What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? Stepped caps lock has the stem in the center, it's not offset to the left of the key. I only have SA sets aside from this XDA set, but all of the stepped caps locks in my other sets are all aligned to the left of the key. I'm going to have to disassemble, de-solder and re-solder my left-aligned capslock switch if I want to use the stepped caps (which I do) ..... but .....
The real kicker is that with the stem centered, there's not even enough room for the cap to be pushed down ... the step hits the switch. Bummer.
And now I know for next time!
