I really do hope that all of these beauties will be more towards 60rc, and really hope massdrop will contact millit knives to arrange a solution for the current range of hardness, as long as the production hasn't started. The community would really appreciate it, thanks alot :)

megical_bananaHi, we would like to curb tour concerns. We have been making knives for many years. These knives will run on the high side of 59Rc. With the proper heat treat, cryo treatment and temper, we are assured, after testing, that the choice we made was the right one. 60-61Rc is to hard for a knife with this style grind. It allows the steel to chip and fracture, and makes it harder to service the edge

I personaly was concered for pieces that could be on the lower side of the scale; Though I haven't had a millit knife (hope this one will be the first) I heard lots of good feedback on your job, thus I agree with whatever you say about the manufacturing procces and anything that is involved in it.
P.S: Could you describe a similar steel in general characteristics to the nitroV? It isn't very common, so this choice makes it more interesting.

megical_bananaSeems to be a lot of concern on hardness. Is that because your information was received just by reading what is recommended for hardness on the steel, or is that through vast years of making knives? The decision was made to run the hardness where it's at for a combined number or reasons. Not just because we read the phamplete on the steel. The heat treat, cryo and temper are done with specific formula, to allow it have a very unique heat treat. Another reason, this is knife has a large hollow grind, which makes the cutting edge super thin. Couple that with a high hardness blade, the opportunity for chips and fractures greatly increases. So, running it the way we did, with the steel, the grind and the use were all considered. Plus, these will come in around 59Rc, doesn't get any closer other the being 60

MillitKnivesAll I know about knife steels is mostly from reading articles, using my own knives and what different makers have to say about them, so again, I trust your choice. I just would like to know to which steels it can compare and in what characteristics, for example would the edge retention be comparable to higher grade steels such as s35vn or would the stain resistance compare to that of the H1. Thanks alot, Ariel.

MillitKnivesSeems to be a lot of concern on hardness indeed. I am no expert on this, far from that, but why not trust the peeps who do this for a living? I am not from the USA and don't know MillitKnives that good, but if they say this hardness is choosen for a reason, that's good enough for me. This seems to be one hell of a knife and the manufacturer is praised as being one of the best of the country. I personally am convinced that this knife will deliver what it promises. And if unfortunately not, I was wrong and still the world keeps turning :)
