Hey everyone,
I just received my PC37X today and I was wondering if anyone has been able to connect their headset to their PS4 through a mixamp?
I currently have an old Astro Gen 0 Mixamp, in addition to having this adapter to help with connecting the headset: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IM36VU0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My issue is that with the headset wired to my mixamp I can get great sound quality but the mic isn't detected. Whereas if I plug the headset directly into my controller I get both mic and sound but at a much lesser quality.
I'm wondering if I get the Sennheiser Console Cable (or some acceptable equivalent) to connect my mixamp directly to my controller if that will be a solution to my issue? I've added pictures of everything just to make this easier for anyone reading.
Anyway I'm just posting on here to see if anyone has come up with their own solutions or if anyone is on the same boat as me?
Thanks!

CheezMuffnI'm pretty much in the exact same boat regarding your situation. I just got my headset yesterday and had a chance to tinker with it last night. Basically what I've found works is to hook the headset line into the mixamp and then the microphone line into something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-External-Headphone-Microphone-Desktops/dp/B01N905VOY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525963932&sr=8-1&keywords=ps4+usb+soundcard
I'm also getting great sound through the mixamp... the only problem I'm having is the mic sensitivity is EXTREMELY low. I turned it up all the way via PS4 settings and tested it out with a recorded message and I could still barely hear myself.
You mentioned your mic was working with the cable through the controller... did you happen to test it out and see if you were loud enough when talking to others? I also purchased an equivalent to the Sennheiser console cable but for some reason the microphone doesn't appear to be detected when I plug it directly into the controller.

MarkewHey,
That's helpful to know that I'm not alone in this. How are things with the UGREEN adapter? In terms of setup are you sitting relatively close to your console? I have mine in a living room so I'm probably 6-7 feet away. It's not super ideal but if it works well for you I'll definitely consider moving my whole console into a smaller room for a closer setup for gaming that requires a mic.
As far as testing out the mic while connected through the controller, I actually haven't had live conversations with anyone but I was sending out voice messages to friends and playing them back to myself and everything sounded good. And actually the sensitivity was a little high, so I had to move the mic out away from being directly in front of my mouth otherwise it would hit the red when messing around in the settings. But, I'll set up a live convo tonight though and see how it goes.
Also I should be getting my console cable tomorrow so I'll update the thread to see if I have any luck with the addition to the setup.

CheezMuffnWell.. the UGREEN adapter seems to work.. but like I said mic input is extremely low. So honestly I'm not sure if it's a defective mic on my headset or something with the adapter.
I actually realized this morning that I ordered the wrong controller cable, which I believe is why my mic wasn't working at all through the controller... so I placed an order for the correct cable and will hopefully receive it tomorrow too! If my mic still doesn't work with my controller I'm going to have to assume something is wrong with my mic?
I'm about 7 feet away too... so the cord that came with the headset works alright as long as I place the mixamp right next to my PS4.
Hopefully the console cables solves both of our problems!

MarkewHey so I finally got it working fully. So the console cable was basically an alternative to the standard cable + the adapter, it was the same thing but built into one cable instead of two. But I also ordered a Chat Cable that finally closed the loop and got my mic working in addition to having the great audio in the headset.
These are both the console cable and chat cable I ended up purchasing:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0797WP8P6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HS5FETM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
So basically my setup is: Headset plugged into mixamp using console cable, chat cable plugged into mixamp from controller, and then mixamp plug into PS4 using an optical. From there everything works perfectly.
Also worth noting I tried getting a cheaper Fry's Electronics 2.5mm to 3.5mm as a chat cable alternative and it wouldn't work. And after looking around online I've found that a lot of the negative reviews for the cheaper chat cables are that the cables aren't the right type so they also don't work, so I opted for buying the cable with the better reviews. It's a little more but it just saved me the trouble of rolling the dice to see if they'd be suitable or not.
Anyway I hope that helps!

CheezMuffnAwesome, thanks! I've got that first cable already that you posted.
So the second cable, the chat cable - you've got that going from the controller to which port on the Mixamp? The controller port on the front I'm assuming?
I'll go ahead and give it a go since USB chat doesn't seem to be working well for me.
Thanks for the info!

MarkewOh, yeah you got it. The chat cable goes from the controller to the 'controller port' on the front of the mixamp. In addition once you get everything plugged in you'll have to adjust some of the settings on the PS4 to get everything working properly.
That last bit isn't difficult at all but reach out if you have any troubles.
Keep me posted and let me know how it all works out for you!
