Wow hell of a deal at $170. For anyone wondering, the build on these are exactly the same as the starboy (and I'd assume the baby machine) at now almost half the price ($335 for hand satin models on bladehq). Same blade steel, same handle material, ceramic bearings/detent....without a markup for hand satin finish too.

BknguyenFor sure, hell of a deal. The deals Massdrop had up from Black Friday through Sunday weren't all that appealing to me, and didn't really seem like much of a discount off of normal for anything even slightly interesting for me. But I've been eyeballing this for a while. As someone who has only a handful of quality knives (as in, a few less than 10, since collectors have a hell of a lot more than that in some cases) I really can't get myself to rationalize spending over $200 on a knife. Some get as expensive as firearms when handmade and I'm not quite there yet. Anyway, $80 off the price Massdrop was normally selling it at and I had to jump in. Had another $10 discount presumably from another drop that was late, since anyone whose been here a while has probably gotten a few of those, and I couldn't resist. Looking forward to receiving it!

GaleForceYou'll love it, Reate does fine work and the Prism really is a home run. I think they're a step above WE and considering WE is a great manufacturer, that's saying a lot. Like I mentioned before, it's essentially the same as the Starboy and Baby Machine (design aside) at a fraction of the price. You can't go wrong.

BknguyenSpeaking of the Prism and the Baby Machine, I’ve been looking at the Fox Bharucha 531 Phoenix and have seen some poor reviews. Apparently Fox doesn’t build to the standards of Reate. Have you handled the Phoenix or know anything about Fox knives and the quality of their knives?

DougFLA123No I haven't handled it nor any other Fox knives. Looks like out of all the Fox drops here, only the Mini-Ka has reviews but I doubt the Mini is in any way reflective of the Phoenix. That's unfortunate to hear about the Phoenix though, I've been eyeing it too. For that price tag, I'd expect it to be perfect! Side note, holy crap the Prism hit 700 buys.

BknguyenThat's awesome to hear. I'm a big fan of the Ferrum Forge line here on Massdrop (it's what got me into knives) and over time I've grabbed every single one of those except for the Dao since I wasn't sure on that one after all the others. Figure I can grab that for $10 more if I end up liking it when they add it back. The only knife I've technically spent over $200 on is the Falcon, I sent it to FF in San Diego to have it refinished in their max contrast option which came out incredibly. But even then it was two separate purchases, the knife and the refinish. I've been impressed with their designs and the quality of WE's manufacturing. On a side note, the Gent Select with the rosewood scales is pure class. If the Prism is going to look and feel like a notch up, I'm even more excited now!

BknguyenYou're sure about that? I feel like I looked at it a few days ago and it was in the 500s. But you're the expert, so I could have mixed it up with another knife I was considering at the time. Wow, that's crazy, but what do you expect with a real discount like that. Been a while since I've seen something that has such a set price get such a price slash (I don't line up on Thursday for Black Friday deals though, not to sound arrogant but my time is worth more than that, so maybe people do get deals that are that eye-popping if they're committed enough).

GaleForceYep, the prism was 250! I gotta agree with you on the lineups too. Plus black Fridays are always busy as is. Don't want to drive through traffic to wait in line to maybe get a cheap tv. Plus, it's the new fandangled future now. Online shopping is a thing!
