Got mine yesterday, after 10+ hrs of listening on multiple different headphones i can report that this thing is exceptionally clean and quite powerful when needed. The only thing that i didn't like was the power button and the SE jacks, these felt little unfinished. I am replacing my Aune x7s with this and that's saying something
GurbakhshishI have a pair of T60RPs coming in this week, I am excited inventory finally surfaced again, the 4 in stock where I bought mine got gobbled up almost immediately. . .
Mark_Mif you are powering 6xx and 58x with it then its not much of a upgrade. but if you have something little more power hungry then you might wanna consider the upgrade
Mark_MBoth of these are VERY clean solid state amps so there is no audible sound coloration. The other think you wanna consider with x7s is that its output impedance is around 12-10 ohms, so it might not play well with low impedance headphones. This one is 1ohm so you won't have the same issue. x7s is a class A amp so it runs hot this is AB so it is extremely efficient. Some people prefer class a bit I didn't hear any different when it comes to dynamic range
GurbakhshishSo something like a 32Ohm headphone may not work well on the X7S? I don't have anything with that low of impedance. I do think the 789 would look better with the Grace SDAC sitting on top. Plus I don't care for the proprietary power cable for the X7S.
Mark_MNot all the 32ohm headphones will have issues with x7s but some might. one way to know is to look at the impedance/frequency graph for your headphone. I am using topping d10 as my dac for this. There is a good reason why Aune used that power connector for x7s. Its a 5 pin connector, it separates the power relays to controls and leds from actual amp transformer power. So theoretically its much smaller noise footprint which you can see in the measurements of x7s. Of course its all pointless considering the fact that 789 has better SNR.
