Why do they send Flashlights only to the USA?
Did an overview of the PT16 a few months back if anyone would like to check it out :-)

OK, so what does the triple LED feature do for performance? Honest question. Is it brighter, or longer lasting? If I were to be cynical, I would think it was a marketing gimmick. I don't know, but I'm curious.
I have a bunch of the Nitecores and other cigar shaped flashlights that drop here on Massdrop. I have been very happy with them.
This one looks cool but will it give me much greater performance than the other ones?
K.T.N
Multi-optics allow for more efficient use of LED's as their performance (lumens and lifespan) tapers as the wattage increases (past the optimal level). Typically you have a much bigger hotspot with and brighter spill lighting whereas a single emitter will have a much more intense hotspot and dimmer spill lighting. By filling a flashlight head with LED's and small optics you don't have the advantage of using a huge reflector to funnel that light.
Multi's are the shotguns of flashlights. Single optics are rifles.
Just to clarify, you must be referring to Mecarmy?
ILikeTurdulls
Yeah, I was asking if anyone knew how the MecArmy rechargeable lights compared to similar ones from Fenix, which I have a few of. FWIW, the MecArmy light that I purchased from the last drop is still doing fine but I haven't used it heavily.
Lateralus
I've heard mixed reports with Mecarmy, but any company that sells obvious ripoffs can't be to concerned with QC. Fenix is the China standard of quality lights. Fit and finish are excellent. They are an good value, reliable, and put out original designs. They also have good CS. Especially Fenix Store. Mecarmy isn't comparable from what I've seen.
This is essentially an exact copy of a much more quality light by OVEREADY. OR has has an outstanding status in the flashlight comunity for their inovation, quality and customer support. I encourage people not to support this drop. It's theft. http://www.oveready.com/moddoolar/cat_22.html

Can you suggest another flashlight with all these features in this price range? Specifically, the PT-16 size, brightness, battery life, and sealed USB charging.
ILikeTurdulls
Yep. It's a copy. Unfortunately almost impossible to buy the Overready -- never seems to be in stock.
Bought my PT16 from the bay for about 5 bucks less total. 21.25 bucks for shipping to norway is ridonkulus
I got in touch with mecarmy and they are sending a new retaining ring. Need to make sure it stays tight I guess
My PT18 had the retaining ring that holds the on/off button in fall out and go missing. Anyone else had this problem? Tried contacting them about it
Fights
Same thing happens to me last night when I was using it now button is loose. I'm going to contact them tomorrow
I finally got mine after a week plus of shipping errors. That being said, does anyone else's light flicker horribly? It's especially noticeable on the high modes.
I have same problem @sunshineee but l already remove that paper, still not work.
whoops works now... no instruction about that in the reading..minus star for that.
sunshineee
You're not the only one, I nearly made the same mistake! The bottom cap fits so well, it's not immediately apparent that it is removable at all.
So overall, +2 for quality machining, -1 for instruction oversight. Excellent little light!
search
This is was I saw the first time I look at this flashlight... Nothing to remove except an o ring...
Ordered PT16 model, doesn't work out of the box?!?! try to contact from their website, we will see....
sunshineee
Did you remove the "insert paper" from the battery compartment? You have to unscrew the portion at the tail end, not the top end where the lens is for recharging..
sunshineee
As cr0n1c mentions.. You need to unscrew the tail cap and remove the paper insert to allow the battery to make contact on both ends and for the light to then function :D
Got my PT-18 just a few days ago. Great little light with big output. Wish I had ordered another!

Are these shipped with the New UI?
LEX8888
@LEX8888 Yes, these ship with the New and Improved UI.
These little MecArmy lights are really addictive! The pineapple knurling and quality build has captured me, so now I have the PT16, PT10, the PT14 is on the way, and I've ordered their bullet light as well. :) Y'all won't believe it, but I modded the PT16 and it is now a Quad instead of triple, I built a driver for it so it can run at 2186 lumens. Insane! :) Thanks Massdrop, for contributing to my continued flashaholism....
DBCstm
DB, you looking to find converts to the "Light-Side" of the force? It's funny how small the Internet is when you find people you know of. I believe I've seen the pics of your quad. Envious.
DBCstm
Uh, care to provide us with a build log? That sounds super sweet.
Looking forward to getting the PT18. If I replace the battery with a higher capacity mAh will a protected cell fit this light? Considering the LG 3500 MJ1 or Panasonic NCR. Would unprotected cells be ok/better for this light? Thanks T Is the battery that comes with the light protected?
3/8/16 Does anyone know if the cell in the PT18 is protected? Will a protected cell fit in the PT18? Thanks
Thanks... Seems like I'm getting too old... :( The answers (for both my questions) are on the previous page.
Thanks again!
Just a quick question: the Battery: 16340 lithium ion (included) - for PT 16 - is rechargeable? If not, what rechargeable battery is compatible?
And the second one: it comes with the new UI? Thanks!
kumm2004
@kumm2004 Yes, all batteries included in this drop are rechargeable, either using the on-board USB port, or remove and recharge in a recharging station.
15,75$ for shipping to sweden, why so expensive?
Robzom
Same for here in Germany. My guess is it has something to do with shipping batteries.
Look awfully like Oveready Modoolar flashlights....
@DuaneWeikum, what is the mAh rating on the 18650 battery that comes with the PT18? TIA.

Thanks Duane. I didn't see warranty mentioned in the product description. According to the MecArmy site it's 5 years for repairs free of charge, and then you pay cost of materials afterwards.
The address listed for them doesn't really give me warm fuzzies, though: NO.33, Huarong Road, Dalang Street, Longhua District, Shenzhen 518109, China
So, in the event of a problem, will we have to ship our lights all the way to China or do they have an office in the US?
Lateralus
@Lateralus Not to worrry, we have US contacts to handle warranty issues. All will be handled quick and painlessly.
can this be mounted on a road bike i do cycling and was wondering ?
nick_z_28
No sir, you're looking for something like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006QQX3C4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00
If you bike in the road you need more than just a flashlight. YMMV on that specific item, but I bought something very similar for my bike and it's incredibly bright on high. Brighter than motorcycle high beams.
For those asking about the durability, I have been carrying the PT18 for a few days and doing my best to use and abuse it and IMO its a tough little light. UI works well, plenty of output and flexibility. I like that it does not have memory, so it always comes on in Low mode. Double tap and its on in High when you need it. Throw it across the room and it keeps on working. I find this to be far more durable than some of the other major brand.
