These little MecArmy lights are really addictive! The pineapple knurling and quality build has captured me, so now I have the PT16, PT10, the PT14 is on the way, and I've ordered their bullet light as well. :) Y'all won't believe it, but I modded the PT16 and it is now a Quad instead of triple, I built a driver for it so it can run at 2186 lumens. Insane! :) Thanks Massdrop, for contributing to my continued flashaholism....

DBCstmDB, you looking to find converts to the "Light-Side" of the force? It's funny how small the Internet is when you find people you know of. I believe I've seen the pics of your quad. Envious.

Hey everyone, Lots of questions, all good ones! Thanks to those who have jumped in to help out.
- These are the current model MecArmy PTs with the NEW UI.
- USB port is behind the o-ring to keep it dry. (Wish my phone was like that.)
- Rechargeable cell is included in each light. Cell model is listed in the specs for each light.
- Listed weights are for the light itself, not including the cell. These weights are actual carry weights, fresh off the scale here at MD HQ. -- PT10 w/cell = 2.36 oz. -- PT14 w/cell = 2.99 oz. -- PT16 w/cell = 2.62 oz. -- PT18 w/cell = 3.70 oz.
These are very substantially built, nicely finished and remain surprisingly light.

DuaneWeikumThanks for info. I see battery is rechargeable- but is it user 'replaceable'? That is, can I just throw one of my spare 18650's into the PT18 (as an example) and be good to go? TIA.

I don't really understand how USB charging is supposed to work on this. Can anyone explain? Port placement is very unusual.

DataIt seems to me, just from looking at the photos, that the port is under the lamp housing which puts it behind the waterproof barrier (O-ring). Seems like a good idea. Much better than a small rubber plug that inevitably falls out or gets lost.

If these are the V2 UI, then I'm in!
Edit - just dropped an email to Massdrop customer support asking if they can confirm.

This is essentially an exact copy of a much more quality light by OVEREADY. OR has has an outstanding status in the flashlight comunity for their inovation, quality and customer support. I encourage people not to support this drop. It's theft. http://www.oveready.com/moddoolar/cat_22.html

ILikeTurdullsCan you suggest another flashlight with all these features in this price range? Specifically, the PT-16 size, brightness, battery life, and sealed USB charging.

ILikeTurdullsYep. It's a copy. Unfortunately almost impossible to buy the Overready -- never seems to be in stock.

I have no experience with MecArmy, though. Thoughts re: the PT18 vs. the similarly-priced Fenix UC30 from the more experienced flashlight crew?

Thanks. I'm buying two - one for me and one for a friend. Can't really go wrong for the price as long as they are durable and reliable, as Duane claims them to be. I may pick up the Fenix anyway, just to compare the two. Can't have too many lights!

LateralusI had bad experience with the company myself. Definitely not at a level of Fenix for service or quality.

Is this the old version or the new updated version?
They overhauled the UI after numerous complaints....

sunshineeeDid you remove the "insert paper" from the battery compartment? You have to unscrew the portion at the tail end, not the top end where the lens is for recharging..

sunshineeeAs cr0n1c mentions.. You need to unscrew the tail cap and remove the paper insert to allow the battery to make contact on both ends and for the light to then function :D

Just to clarify, you must be referring to Mecarmy?

ILikeTurdullsYeah, I was asking if anyone knew how the MecArmy rechargeable lights compared to similar ones from Fenix, which I have a few of. FWIW, the MecArmy light that I purchased from the last drop is still doing fine but I haven't used it heavily.

LateralusI've heard mixed reports with Mecarmy, but any company that sells obvious ripoffs can't be to concerned with QC. Fenix is the China standard of quality lights. Fit and finish are excellent. They are an good value, reliable, and put out original designs. They also have good CS. Especially Fenix Store. Mecarmy isn't comparable from what I've seen.
I finally got mine after a week plus of shipping errors. That being said, does anyone else's light flicker horribly? It's especially noticeable on the high modes.
