Hi all,
Unfortunately, there have been some recent developments that will prevent us from offering Pilot's Metropolitan line again in the future. Please note that this may very well be the last time that the Metropolitan fountain pens will be dropped.
Regretfully, this comes directly from Pilot, and from pretty high up on the food chain. We will be able to honor all of the sales in this drop that is live right now, but we will not be offering Metropolitan pens (Retro Pop, Animal, or Classic styles) again in the foreseeable future. (So if you're on the fence about joining this drop, now is the time!)
We're working on keeping a dialog with Pilot open right now, and we'll do everything we can to change the minds of the decision-makers at Pilot. We definitely want to make sure they know how much our community cares about their products, and also how many MD members we've been able to expose to the awesomeness that is fountain pens by starting off with one of these great Metropolitans.
LizCan you let Pilot know that I'm going to be taking up this offer because where I live, they just offer Medium nibs, here I can grab two Fine nibs and get the converters that aren't included in the local packaging (we get a neat steel box), plus this costs quite a bit less than two pens here.
LizOh crap.... Guess I'll just jump on it while I can even if I already have way too much writing instruments... Damn, I never thought I'd have such a pen addiction. Anyway thanks for the update and I sincerely hope you'll find a common ground and continue to carry these fantastic pens !
NightharperCount yourself lucky if its just pens. With me its pens, notebooks, folios, journals, brushes, highlighters, inks, markers... I'd love to blame Massdrop, but my addiction was latent for years. Massdrop only triggered it.
raji@raji, as of now, this new policy only affects the Metropolitan line, though we have not been able to bring back any of the higher-end Namiki products due to the same restrictions. We're still able to offer items like the G-Tec-C pens, G2s, and Parallel pens.
