The description says "Cherry's new ML switches" - haven't the ML switches been around since the 90's? I have a board with ML's that was manufactured in the early 2000's. Was there a rework or redesign that I didn't hear about? They're interesting feeling switches and it would be kind of exciting if Cherry improved them.
DingonekThe phrase "Cherry’s new ML switches" also gave me pause. Did they mean the new low profile Cherry switches or are these actually the old ML switches? That and the "doubleshot" thing needs clearing up before I can even pass judgement. I'm excited to see a split board with low profile but I don't think I can justify getting this one. I've been itching to pull the trigger on the ErgoDox-EZ for the split design + thumb keys and the flexible programmability. Man... so many boards so little time (and money).
Upon further review, looks like they're dye subbed and Cherry ML (ML1A) switches which means ... the old ones. I think this is a hard pass for me.
squ1shSame. I need to know if these are the old ML, or the new Low-Profile? I have the updated Drevo Joyeuse with the new Kailh Low-Profile and love it, but haven't heard good things about the MLs.
bhgeminiI'm using the cheapo HAVIT keyboard you can pick up on Amazon for gaming and I'm really digging the low profile keys. But the pictures shown in the preview pics show the MLs. The newer low profile switches from Cherry look like cylinders with the cross in the middle. So unless these are actually Kailh Chocs, then we are actually being sold the old ML switches. Granted I've never tried the MLs but I've heard way more bad than good.
squ1shThe HAVIT keyboard has Kailh low-profile switches. I love them, they work amazingly well. Wish I could change the keycaps, though. Have been wanting to find low-profile keycaps that fit the Kailh switches. Any suggestions very welcome.
maexxxYep, I use that board for gaming. I've had less hand pain in general using that board which is a huge plus for me! It's great, but I haven't found any keycaps for it. I am hoping for some more boards that come out with the Kailh Chocs. Cherry low profile are untested for me so I have no judgement on those. Ducky has teased a board with them for a while but I haven't kept up to date on how that is going.
I have the MiTo Canvas XDA caps for normal MX profiles and they are so amazing. If only I could use them on my HAVIT board I'd have the perfect gaming keyboard (for now). There's always something bigger and brighter.
maexxxSeach for "PLUM Keyboard" on eBay. It's an odd layout ortho keyboard with ML switches. BUT, unlike the Cherry G84 keyboards, this one shifted the position of the switches so the stems are centered. So the keycaps use a center mount stem instead of an offset. That means these keycaps do work on Kailh Choc switches. Being ortho, this means you don't have any larger modifiers to replace. Just alphas. But as I like ortho, these were a no brainer for me. Might grab a second one at some point to have more blanks and 1u modifiers to use with my custom.
BillyBuergerNo, I'm in Austria, Europe. Thanks for the direct link. I am able to see it now.
However: "This item does not ship to Austria".
