You're looking for a fountain pen with durable, lightweight construction and reliable performance, but you expect your everyday utensil to have a certain element of modern style. Sporting a sleek black carbon fiber barrel and namesake titanium cap, the Monteverde Invincia Titanium Fountain Pen brings a formal flair to your daily writing Read More
I've been using mine for a few weeks now. No squeaking using Sailor Jentle Blue Black ink. I like it overall, but wish the cap would post. It seems like it should but I can feel something push back when I try. It's a heavy cap anyway, so I'm fine with using it unposted.
Got mine a few days ago. I filled it with Lamy Green, having forgotten to clean it first (I guess I've gotten spoiled by Japanese pens that work out-of-the-box) and it skipped very badly. I cleaned it by filling it with slightly soapy water a few times, follows by rinsing it with water several times. I then filled it with Private Reserve ink since I remembered it to be unusually wet but the pen still skips, but far less than it did at first. I'm hoping it will improve with use.
It sure is pretty though. Both the all-over design, the carbon fibre (which my eyes seem to have trouble focusing on), the sheer blackness of the pen and the contrast with the colour of the cap. Capping it feels weird though - there seems to be some issue with the threading but I can't tell what. The black laquer is also already coming off the threads.
My rollerball just showed up. ***Canadian buyers be warned, I just got dinged with a $20 GST/HST/Handling charge, even though it was shipped USPS.***
This is my second Invincia drop, first was the Black Tie fountain. I am just as happy with this as I was the Black Tie. Great construction and quality for the price. The rollerball is insanely smooth, my only complaint is the point section is very thin, so if you like gripping a thinker pen this is certainly not for you.
The box card and the website say to use Monteverde or Parker G22 refills, but after a few quick searches I can't seem to find them retail online (at least in Canada anyhow). Anybody have a lead on where I can buy rollerball refills for this guy? G22 turned up nothing on Amazon.
mcraneI didn't get dinged as a Canadian buyer. What I found was that in Canada, it's like a roulette with the taxes and stuff. Sometimes they charge you, sometimes they don't. Depends on if you get lucky or not.
I received my pen about a week ago. Opened it up and noticed it has some scratches on the cap. Further, the carbon fiber section is peeling below the cap (think of an object with shrink wrap and it starts to peel). The pen is quite disappointing compared to another Monteverde Invincia Deluxe pen that I own (outside of Massdrop).
AlanParkHi @AlanPark -- I'm sorry to hear that, did you contact our Support team about that?
We can help you with a warranty claim if you'd like. https://www.massdrop.com/support
PS - Sorry for the slow reply, I missed this one in the middle of the other comments.
JonasHeinemanHi Jonas, No I did not contact the support team. I bought this pen as a gift for a friend and due to urgency, I gave the pen as-is. No worries on the late reply. I was just trying to warn others.
Regards
I received mine earlier this week. I noticed the nib also "squeaks"/a little scratchy only when doing upstrokes to the right, but after a few days it got a little smoother. I'm using a J. Herbin blue ink and it's writing very wet on a fine nib (though that is probably my fault for not being patient enough to let my pen dry more than an hour after cleaning it with water). Other than that I really like the pen and can't wait to try another ink with it.
Mine arrived today. Inked it up with some Waterman Inspired Blue, which was maybe not the best choice. It's a very dry writer and with that ink it actually squeaks. I think that I'll give it a go with some Noodler's Bernanke Blue instead.
Overall, I like its appearance. It fits my ham-fisted hands very well, is nicely balanced for me and weighs enough so that I don't feel like I'm pushing a feather around the page.
EDIT: According to Goulet Pens, the Invincia Titanium has been discontinued by Monteverde. If you want one, I guess you'd better get it now. Goulet has them for $80 and I see a few on Amazon for a couple of bucks more.
DrewDunnI just received mine as well. I'm using one of the cartridges that it came with and I found that mine squeaks while writing as well. Please let me know if the squeaking stops with the Noodler's ink.
