Imagine this was your first visit to MD--you heard they sold watches on the site and decided to come on over and have a look for yourself. And this is the bullshit you see!

What are the odds of you coming back again tomorrow? A) not likely B) fuck that! Having been a member of this category for some time now, I can literally count scores of contributing members who've simply disappeared, never to be heard from again. Sadly, If this crap keeps up, you and I are likely to be among them soon.

It’s far past time for Droop to waffle stomp the watch section down the shower drain.

Don’t forget the keycaps and knife crowd. Those 3 seem to be their biggest moneymakers. What’s infuriating to me is that they didn’t use the past 13 months to acquire tons of inventory. Lots of jewelry shops had to close unfortunately, and all that inventory went to the online outlets. You also had tons of micro brands trying to dump stock as well. Had I been in charge, I would’ve been contacting every chain store, microbrand, and watch outlet I could find on the web to ask about their inventory and try to work a deal. Instead, we get garbage like this. Sad.

In charge is certainly the issue--I don't think they've had anyone in charge of the classification for the last year or so. The department seems to be strictly a chore they passed off to random employees with no interest what so ever in watches, but who just happened to be passing by when the need arose. Of course, I don't actually know what happened, I don't work here. Perhaps we should ask someone who does? Hey @steve (El Hage) couple of questions for you: A) what happened to the watch department and, B) do you have any plans to salvage it?

No prob. I'd go with an automatic khaki or the manual wind field watch. Good value for either.

AnimatikI started with Glycine ,right here on Drop. Really tough well made middle range Swiss tool watches. Big company, big history. Although the model I personally prefer is the Combat Sub range, starts at around the $300 usd. range; but money well spent. To term a phrase I would describe them as a "bulletproof " purchase; not too expensive ,good movements, and quality finishing. A really good entry to Swiss automatics, if Japanese there are a lot of Seiko's at around the $300 mark, any lower cost , then the style tends to be a little boring. But at the end of the day, a watch is a personal purchase; we all have different tastes and reasons for buying anything. This (Morphic) is a mass produced quartz watch, the other Shield currently on offer doesn't look too shaby either!! , not too bad on the eye!!! If you like it ,it is your choice, I have watches from many sectors, cheap, Chinese, Japanese and Swiss. I like them all and they range from $79 usd. to over $1100 usd. (that's what I paid; the RRP's. are as high as $3600 usd.) so you can get some bargains.

Are we witnessing the sad last days of what used to be a sweet spot to find cool watches at great prices? I got so many treasures here, before the fall....I used to get in trouble for looking at my phone in morning meetings at work....'Whatcha doing Glen?'. 'Ordering another watch!'. Then they started 'designing' their own watches. I feel so bad for those that got caught up in that mess, giving Drop that much money on loan for over a year, just to see them sell with instant delivery with 2 months for what, just over half the price you paid to help finance the project over a year ago? That was the ultimate insult I think for many regulars

WatchyoutalkingaboutHi, great minds think alike!! or something like that; unfortunately it appears all our suspicions were correct. Glad I got in on time for the Vostok Europe Limo!! I would have preferred another model but I don't mind this one with the ivory/white enamel style face finish. At least I have got to use up my $25 usd. rewards dollars on a reasonable watch. And I have stacks of other leather straps to fit as the supplied one looks gruesome! I hope another company takes advantage of this gap in the market,as it seems JS is already not being as competitive as they were a few weeks ago! I tried to buy a ''Ball Aviator' chrono auto at $849 usd....,it sold out quick and I missed it! Then yesterday it came back on at $1149 usd. no extra discount!! I know I would like a "Ball" but, preferred the $849 price; especially as it wasn't totally what I wanted because of the unnecessary thickness of the case which I read somewhere was at 18 mm, I have three other ETA7750 base movements from 13.7 mm to 15.3 mm thick; the latter being 2 mm of domed sapphire on my Panzera Breuer 43. Which although thick the domed sapphire adds a little bit of extra elegance to the rest of the vintage looking case with different cures to other auto chrono cases. This was the first ETA7750 I was looking at buying until the Freelancer came up on Drop at a price one couldn't ignore!! But the Bauhaus/Junghans inspired Panzera really is very elegant for it's size. And again another Limited edition...........not that this seems to make a lot of difference these days. I was looking at the Steinhart Nav 42 with a 16mm. thick case; still a tad too thick ,but an attractive watch at a good non tax price for me here down-under at approx. $1290.00 usd.!!! With a nice looking unusual blue dial.....Any suggestions for a good pilot chrono auto at this price, even a really good quartz,or solar quartz would be of interest. I still buy some cheaper knock about/fun watches and have bought two solar's recently from Citizen at good prices: A GMT Promaster titanium diver, including Titanium bracelet at $270 usd. shipped: and a Pro-master land/aviator "radio controlled /GPS time controlled" chrono for $230 usd. , both at 63% and 70% discount respectfully. (from Starbuy in Sydney). Heads up I received the Gevril Wallstreet sub-mariner homage two days ago from JS. Only $499 usd. on "coupon" deal.. Apart from the name and the great air force blue colored dial and ceramic bezel this is truly a beautiful piece. I have only held a Rolex sub-mariner a couple of times; a close friend collects high end older pieces; and I could not tell the difference except size and weight, the Gevril being 43 mm diameter, and of course the ETA2824 as opposed to the in house Rolex movement, even the jubilee bracelet etc .all identical!! Except this was number 148 out of 5000 pieces produced. Out of all the other semi grey market dealers I think JS is the most reliable!! Post note .........What is Rayf going to do!!!

Evidently this is an instance where we can't blame MD for not providing more specific information about the movement in this watch--neither does the damn manufacture! https://morphicwatches.com/product.php?id=18718 I imagine is a decent enough straight quartz movement and not a Mecha-Quartz movement. If you're interested in the differences between the two types, Mark at LIW has done a nice video explaining and demonstrating both. It's worth a look--I was wrong about my understanding of the two: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWCX7qHFlnY

MokomaI think our feedback may have deflated them. Imagine, you work so hard to curate an offering of tasteful, quality watches, and all anyone wants to do is drop 💩 in the comments. Shameful. Nah, just kidding. I used to come here in the hopes of landing something nice, but now it's become a morbid fascination.
