Product Description
These motorcycle boots were created as a solution to the everyday perils of motorcycle riding. More specifically, they aim to bridge the gap between fashion and function, a conundrum that any motorcycle rider surely has encountered Read More
Do these boots have reinforced toe box, reinforced heel cup, and malleolus (ankle) protection? Is there any Gore-Tex or similar liner for wet weather comfort/protection?
What benefit does this boot bring that is not already provided by boots offered by established mainstream motorcycle apparel companies (ex: Alpinestars Drystar Parlor Boot)?
i have no idea why you thought MotoBailey was "having a go at you". he was just trying to enthusiastically share some info and you went off on him.
and then he has the decency to apologize to you. you should apologize to him lol.
" What benefit does this boot bring that is not already provided by boots offered by established mainstream motorcycle apparel companies (ex: Alpinestars Drystar Parlor Boot)? "
But you did ask for a comparison.
Every time these come up, same thing I always say - DO NOT WEAR UNARMORED BOOTS ON YOUR MOTORCYCLE IF YOU LIKE BEING ABLE TO WALK.
You ever just take a 500lb weight and drop it on your toes? No? Can you imagine what will happen? That's what one of your feet's gonna have to deal with if you drop your bike on a slide. Lord forbid you get your foot under your frame sliders. God almighty I have seen some *wrecked* feet.
Wear armored boots. Kevlar on your feet is LAUGHABLE. You can get good looking armored "streetwear" boots, check revzilla and /r/motorcycles!
komali_2Also, you'll want coverage of your ankles. A lot of injuries/breaks come from that joint in particular during a crash.
Long and short of all this is that your gear should exist to protect you when you crash, not just make you look cool beforehand. As an experienced rider (5+ years) I would never be able to recommend these.
s204stiExactly - the claim that these are motorcycle boots is laughable. Where's the toe protection? Where's the ankle protection? A pair of high-top basketball shoes will provide just as much crush protection as these boots will. Should Nike start calling Air Jordan's motorcycling shoes?
I want to like these boots - I really do like the style - but the lack of actual crush protection just makes these another regular leather boot. I ride without proper footwear all the time but at least I'm not out here claiming my Adidas skate shoes will protect me from anything other than dust tickling my toes.
This product is very dishonest. It will not protect your ankles - 0 impact protection, and inadequate coverage of the ankle/shin area for abrasion as well!
This is little more than a deceitfully advertised men's wearhouse dress shoe with allegedly better exterior strength.
It would never survive a crash or protect you if you did crash.
EARiderYou're totally correct on all counts. The "protection" offered is minimal, at best. However, that's not the intent of this boot. It think it's more designed to be a stylish boot that can handle getting a little more action out of a shifter and soles that won't melt from being near an exhaust.
If your focus is on fashion over function, then this would be a good boot choice for riding. I could see myself wearing these while on one of my vintage bikes, but never while riding one of my modern sport bikes.
xalsxThe least they could do is not call it a motorcycle anything as that implies that there is protection of some kind in the design otherwise may as well call it a pair of sandals. :) It's just deceptive advertising practices.
"[A] motorcycle boot that towed the line between fashion and function". At the risk of being "that guy", you mean "toed the line" (put its toe on the line), rather than "towed the line" (pulled it along behind something else).
HMK1HAHA..touche on the play on words. Its funny you said that, our original intention was to avoid being "that guy" at the coffee shop or office with track boots on or massive mad max boots.
MotoBaileyWhere do I even start?
It's not a play on words, actually, even if it sounds like that. "To toe the line" is the correct phrase, not "To tow the line."
However, even the correct version is not appropriate in this case, since it actually means to follow/obey rules, and there are no rules "between fashion and function."
What you are looking for is perhaps something more like "bridges the divide between fashion and function."
Am I the only thing one who’s bothered that these are advertised as motorcycle boots? Kevlar is great and all, but any motorcycle boot should protect my ankle from being crushed or broken. These are fashion boots with a shift pad for style.
KyleDarlingI was super excited to see motorcycle boots on Massdrop but the lack of metal plating in the ankles is a deal breaker. These are NOT motorcycling boots - they are indeed just regular ol' boots with a shift pad.
Shame on MotoBailey for selling "motorcycle boots" without proper protection.
This is now the third time I've seen these come up, and once again, we only have sizes for teenagers. Come on, how many times do yall have to see the request for larger sizes for it to click?
