Founded in 1979 by legendary outdoorsman Patrick Smith, Mountainsmith started out making extremely durable gear built to withstand the rigors of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. This led to the development of the world’s first fully rigid backcountry ski sled, and later, the iconic lumbar waist pack. Today, the company produces a full line of outdoor products (including trekking poles, tents, and sleeping bags), at the heart of which are there technical backpacks, recognized for their comfort, stability, value, and performance.
