You can build this thing yourself for like $800. Bestbuy sells better machines for this price... iBuypower has this basically exact same desktop for $200 cheaper on bestbuy, and it has an SSD. There is an HP Omen with a 1070 (no SSD though) for this price. So prebuilts while "expensive" this is expensive for a prebuilt.
I cannot imagine purchasing a pre built computer. Has anyone broken down what all the components would be on their own? I have an i7 6700K, 32 GB DDR4, 1TB SSD, a Strix 1080, and an 850W PSU that I think might come close to this price. So not worth the price for the specs you're getting on this!
Not the worst deal in history but far from a great one. Here's my attempt at matching: The below build includes 2400Mhz RAM and a 1060 6GB so a little performance boost there (same-ish price for the lesser products) and I threw in a 550w PSU to keep max power consumption near the peak of the efficiency curve. Also, I don't think PCPartpicker supports Optane yet so I threw in an additional 128GB SSD to be close. Lastly, this build does lack USB type C ports and front HDMI but otherwise I think it's a fair comparison... at time of writing it's $1274.64 and, IMO, worth the extra $28:

BrainFlushThe difference in performance in really quite negligibl, unless you are doing serious CAD, animation, rendering, or file processing, in which case a stock 7700 and 1060 are terrible choices anyways. If anyone wants an MSI gaming pc, a similarly spec'd trident 3 is available for 750 with an i5 and for $100 more, you can find the white one with a 1070 and an ssd. I would hones it recommend this pc to anyone, as the 7700 at 3.6 is barely better than an i5, and worse than a ryzen 5 or 7 in both gaming and content manipulation. The case is huge and not great for build quality or airflow. The cheap fans get loud at light loads and the stock hdd is dreadfully slow without the out of pocket octane upgrade. Also this is not a 7700k like the description says and is a mismatch anyways. Games should have an i5 unless your pushing a 180 range card and the 7700 is underpowered in CPU intensive workload. Do not buy this piece of junk. I know someone who did and Costco, and they took full advantage of the generous return policy.
