If thus would ship sooner, I'd be all over this. I've got a ryzen 7 build and I'd need to sell my gpu to afford this. Don't want my PC to be out of commission too long.

Jmwils3Hey thinking of building a pc real soon, what do you think of your ryzen build, (presuming r7 1700) are you able to overclock it to 4ghz, do you see any downfalls?? Just curious... may get new intel cpu though will cost an arm and a leg :( - not saying amd is bad or anything, just it seems it bottlenecks gpu quite a bit to some extent.

Annihilator_sythHaven't seen any bottleneck on my 1080 from my 1800x (was actually able to get one for less than a 1700, lol), but I will say the 7700k I came from held an overclock much better. But with all these cores, I don't need to clock anywhere near as high, which makes for a quieter machine.

Annihilator_syth10 days into my 1950 x threadripper build. Get the intel 8700 $330 cpu and $209 asus mobo. My 1950x/zenith extreme/1080 msi gaming x gpu/32gb gskill 3200 ram struggles to keep 65 fps in all games so far. Reviews for all ryzen have been v good, my experience is dismay and confounding

file1manThe reason being thrradripper isn't made for gaming. It's for content creation and applications that will use its massive numbers of cores and pcie lanes. Even my 1800x is probably still way too many lower clocked cores when more games prefer a small number of high clock cores.

Jmwils3yes, the 1950 x is for content creation, very much less so for gaming as you indicate. But every reviewer so far- jay, paul, gamers nexus, guru3d, oc3d- indicates from 68 to 75 fps in witcher 3, gtV, etc. that is what disappoints me & my avg 58 fps . Im using a ek ripper waterblock w 360 ek kit. yes, higher clocked single core intel is way better for gaming . For gaming, my amd fx8350 was terrible,1950x bad & my intel 3820 very good, 5820 x99 cpu ($370 on sale microcenter, a year ago) cpu beats them all, easily. so 1950 build sits there since, as a content creator, I cant gameplay, record, stream on 1 machine. Linus seems to indicate 1950x would not disappoint, using my same setup with a less capable liq cooling system. just very disapponting. Suspect Id never again try amd again & ive had a new build every 5 years since 1990.

file1manThat does sound incredibly frustrating. I don't see any reason why your setup should be that way. What board are you using? Some are more capable than others.

file1manI knew going in , the threadripper 1950 was first, for content creations and rendering, secondarily, for ok gaming. but, it struggles to get 65 fps, stutters.
