It does sounds horrible for American people, but if you don't live in somewhere where website like shaving.ie will offer a low shipping rate and the drop reaches the lowest price point it is not bad.

This is a terrible deal. The razor in US is 50 bucks on amazon. So you're paying another 50 bucks for the stand? There's really no reason to buy it at this price.
As others have said you can get the same razor technically(head design) by buying a Edwin Jagger DE89 around the 30 dollar range in the US.

Even at the lowest price this isn't such a great drop. You can get this razor and stand at shaving.ie for $30 per piece with $5 US shipping. Total cost about $65

It's still $10 cheaper from shaving.ie and that includes shipping to the US. Can't win them all! More money in the pot for my AS-D2 :)

henroI see something different. 59.02 Shipped to CA,USA from shaving.ie, Not sure why I didn't see tax in the Order review page there but in the View Cart Page, I saw VAT included. So with even the lowest price unlocked here in MD, it comes to 74.99+5.8+Tax to USA. I think its 15$ lower unless am missing something in the calculation. Please feel free to correct me.
Update: Some more googling had me understand this is a zamak "metal", so prone to breaking if dropped and for people from US still interested to buy, get it from a UK shopping site which will reduce your total price a lot.

I bought this razor (without the stand) in The Netherlands for ~30 euro, it's a great razor, good weight, shaves great. This was my first classic razor, and I still use it everyday, great for beginners. The chrome gets dirty quickly, but you can wipe that of easily.

I bought the rose gold about 18 months ago, for this price without the stand. So from my view this IS a good deal compared to other USA prices. I have not found the stand shown here for less than 60 bucks in USA market.
The razor itself is awesome! Its great for someone just starting out IF you do not go cheap on your blades. You have to realize the blade does the cutting, while we all vary on what wrks best for our hair/skin/face, you need a quality blade. A DBL EDGE blade is a easy clean close shave! Even the most expensive will save you a boat load compared to the cartridge razors that are insanely priced, and sry...not near as good a shave. Faster does not equal better...unless I am truly in a hurry to get out the door. Then I may go w my mach3. Rarely.
That being said, this is just a great forgiving razor! I have the black handle w EJ, but my rose gold was my first DE Razor, and with over 20 razors in my collection, this one remains at the top of my favs. Maybe this will help others decide on giving it a go. DE shaving is a lifestyle, self care, so RELAXING, and by many accounts, believe me, addictive!

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all of the comments - I have some good news!
I had a great conversation with the vendor and they were able to offer us a lower wholesale price, and we're passing these savings directly on to you. The drop prices have been updated to reflect this change. This should make our price much more competitive.
Also, regarding prices in other countries - it's important to understand that it's not an "apples to apples" comparison, as there are many other factors at play (VAT, shipping fees, import taxes, exchange rates, etc). Our price is determined by the cost of getting Muhle products to the USA; for that reason, I agree that if you're in Europe you can probably get a better price locally. If you're in the US, though, this is a great price on a great razor and stand.
Let me know if you have any questions!

This isn't a good deal. You can get both of these together for $68.33 (That's including shipping) from http://www.shaving.ie You'll likely have it faster that way as well.

I'm really surprised that this is so expensive (MSRP and drop price). The razor alone from Muhle's own website (http://www.muehle-shaving.com/Shop/TRADITIONAL/Hobelrasur/Rasierhobel/Rasierhobel-von-MUEHLE-geschlossener-Kamm-Griffmaterial-Metall-verchromt.html) is cheaper than this, about 35 EURO without shipping. I can appreciate that the stand and the included razor blade might up the price, but this much?
Also, considering that 1 EURO = 1.06 USD (March 11, 2015), this all seems crazy!
Sorry for ranting, I live in the UK and have ties in Germany so seeing this price hike makes me cringe.
EDIT 1: I just did the maths, and from the Muhle's website, the R89 (standard) is 34 Euro, the RHM SR stand is 29.95 Euro, and a pack of 10 blades is 2.60 euro. So the total is 66.55 Euro ~ 70 USD not including shipping. Given this full calculation, I can see that the margin is actually very small, and given extra taxes/import/duties I can understand the MSRP and drop price a bit better for the US/Canada. Anyone in Europe, just buy locally.
