Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. Still debating if I really can let go of the dedicated arrow keys... I am using the New Poker II for this post and the sound of the New Poker II is hollow than that of the Leopold FC660M. I will continue to test and really determine which one will be shelved. Since I will be having two New Poker IIs, one is going with me to work and replacing the HP rubber dome keyboard that came stock with the workstation.
Just four days left (if on time) before Massdrop notifies that the New Poker II will be shipping out from their warehouse. Then another seven to nine days of shipping before the New Poker II arrives at my door step. How do I know? I have ordered several KBs from Massdrop and that seems to be the pattern.
Happy hammering!!! ;-)
