1ultrawarriorThe unit uses a 18650 3.7vdc/3400mah lithium battery which is very much larger than any Energizer, different voltage and current capacity. Get another 18650 or two and a good charger and swap out when needed during your race

1ultrawarriorI don't know about drain time (capacity) but maybe CR123A Lithiums would be worth a look? I got a couple (free?) with my Fenix headlamp but haven't used them. (Except to try them to see that they work) This Nitecore accepts them: https://flashlight.nitecore.com/product/hc65

1ultrawarriorThanx, CR123A can be used, probably requires 2 in series. This will give you 7.4vdc but current limited to probably less than 1000mah. Arbitrarily 7 watt vs 12 watt if you use the CR123A vs 18650 (ohm's law Pwr=V(I)) So greatly depends on how the electronics in the headlamp regulates power to the lamp

OldGreyWolf@OldGreyWolf , wow.. thanks so much with all the info. I guess ALL of us learnt something out from here. It's a great big stuff for me learnt and to understand .. i may have to test it out in the mountain when is cold at night during my training, so that I can do a comparison and comments on it. Thank you very much @oldgreywolf & @chugger, have a great weekend ahead.. enjoy! :-)

1ultrawarriorI may be a tad late. However, you get more power/burn time from one good 18650 than two AA lithiums. I have used a Nitecore MH20GT in several hundreds (going all night). The rechargables also generate less chemical waste as you get many uses from it. The burn time obviously depends on the power level. I bring an extra battery (get a good one, the capacity varies) in a water proof case designed for it).
