delnerdoI have the updated for 2017 TIP. I've been carrying it for about three months. It's pretty good. It fixes most of the issues I had with the Tube, but it's really big for what it is. It's about the same size as a large automotive key fob. It's almost like having two AAA lights side-by-side. The Tube is much more "key-chain friendly." They include a plastic holster with a pocket clip with this light, and it's probably better carried that way for a lot of people.
The brightness settings are well chosen, and you get a dedicated switch to adjust it. You can check the battery level without turning on the light. It has a pretty smart auto-off feature (that you can disable) which is important since the button is easily activated in your pocket. Unlike the Tube, it has a good reflector that keeps the light from blinding you in small spaces. In a pitch-dark room, the lowest setting is more than enough illumination to walk around without running into things. The highest setting is really bright (I haven't found a use for it, yet).
The battery life is really good. The parasitic drain must be negligible because I only charged it once when I got it, and it's been used about 3 or 4 times a week (mostly at low settings) for three months without needing a recharge. My light currently shows "two blinks" which I think means it has more than 50% of its capacity remaining.
I have the silver metal finish, and it's definitely showing signs of hanging around keys and getting dropped on hard surfaces, but it doesn't look bad. The coating isn't flaking off (yet). It just looks used and a little beat up; which is fine by me.
At $23+SH, you could get much worse lights. If it wasn't so big and hollow-feeling, I would rate it as one of the best USB-rechargeable key-chain lights I have used or handled. If they were to make a metal-cased Tube with the same electronics as the TIP (even with reduced battery life), they could sell them for $40/pc and I would consider it a bargain.

delnerdoI bought one of the XP-G2 models from 2016, and it is a great light. It has performed perfectly and the performance is very impressive for its size. The only thing you have to know is that the 2017 models come set up in demo mode - the light will switch off automatically after 30 seconds. Holding down both buttons at the same time for several seconds will change the mode so that it will stay on until you switch the light off.
