If you’re keyboard is already tricked out with one of MiTo’s custom keycap sets, then why not deck out your whole desktop setup? Originally designed for the Godspeed keycaps, these desk mats are now being offered to match other keycap sets like Miami and Laser, too Read More
Shipping defeats my every desire to get this, again. Unless I'm getting peanuts made of precious metal, shipping that's the same price as the product is silly.
River117I’m totally with you on that. But I suggest it for those who let their fear of non-free shipping affect their purchase decision even when the price is reasonable. In this case, these mats are still cheaper than what any major retailers will sell manufactured mats for even with shipping. Personally I think this is a great deal. Shame others don’t just because of the shipping cost.
I don't know how big is the packaging, but I paid 14 dollars shipping for my k-type and I don't think this can't be that much bigger and heavier than that. Even if I ignore that, paying more for shipping that the product feels wrong even if the price is justified.
P.S: I love the gif.
pipicanimThe K-Type is a Massdrop product, obviously they don't manufacture it in house but these mats are someone else's product that MD happens to sell - the general procedure for products like that, even ones not made in house by the people themselves, is that they get procured by the person who then ships the final product to Massdrop which then ships them off to customers world-wide.
This is to say that these mats probably are a 3 step shipping process rather than the 2 for the K-Type - Novelkeys is also a much smaller scale business than MD is, meaning the 1st step (assuming there is one, I'm not 100% sure as stated) is fairly expensive due to worse (read: more normal) shipping deals/rates.
Hey everyone,
Round 4 of these deskpads is officially live. This time around we are offering four colorways - Panda, Laser, Miami, and Mars. Mars is a new colorway that is a nice vibrant red, with solid red stitching.
Expected ship date is January. These deskpads take around 3-4 weeks to manufacturer. Another 2 weeks to package up. Around 45-60 days to ship to me. After that, I am able to get them shipped out right away.
Stay tuned to this post for the latest updates.
Shipping FAQs Does it really cost this much to ship?
- Yes. If you dont believe me, head to USPS' website and calculate the costs. The bigger pads weigh 2 pounds shipped. Box size is 4x4x18". Shipping out of 26416. 3 courier services are available in my area - USPS, UPS, and FedEx.
But x and y only cost x amount to ship, and they were heavier, why?
- Some products have shipping costs built into their price.
Thanks!
Mike
Updates:
January 4, 2019 - Deskpads have been shipped out to customers. Drop complete.
January 3, 2019 - We received the packages and have started boxing everything up. These will all be shipped out tomorrow.
November 26, 2018 - Production is complete and products have been shipped to me.
October 21, 2018 - Forgot to keep this page updated. Order was placed and is still in production.
LastBratShipping to Europe from NovelKeys (they had a direct group buy about a month ago) was $25 too. These are heavy, no one's getting ripped off here. Does it suck? Yes, majorly. Is MD to blame? No.
VigrithNever understood why people think shipping is cheap. I guess free shipping from AliExpress has spoiled people who don't understand that those shipments are sent in cargo planes/freights by the bulk.
Hey everyone!
Just wanted to give everyone an update on this order. It is currently in transit to me, and I am doing everything I can do speed that up. With that said, I believe there will be just a slight delay in getting this shipped out to you.
I believe this is a culmination of Chinese New Year and the fact that this is the biggest and heaviest shipment I have had sent to me (its over 30 boxes each weighing around 80-100 pounds). If any delay, it will be a relatively short delay.
I want to apologize for this. I know everyone is getting pretty excited to get these deskpads! And I really want to get them to you. I should have them all sent out by the end of May. Again, I really am sorry for the delay.
Thanks and I hope you all understand,
Mike
Big update!
Everything has been shipped out. I received the mousepads on Friday, May 18th. I have worked pretty hard through the weekend and the week getting everything packaged up.
As of today, all mousepads have been shipped out. Again, I apologize for the delay. The original estimate I got for when these should have been delivered to me was a month off, which really messed up my estimate for when I would have these shipped out.
Here is a picture about half way done with the packages.

I know that delays suck, but I definitely wasnt trying to hold these back from anyone. And it really killed me to know that these were just somewhere in transit to me for so long.
Anyways, you all should be receiving your tracking numbers and/or tracking updates soon.
Thanks again for being a part of this drop!
mgsicklerJust got my Laser pad today, and I am kicking myself for not getting two. The price I paid including S&H was only $19. On Novelkeys.xyz the total price is $31.53. I had to get another one because this is going to get dirty fast. It feels slightly gritty; my forearms are going to get all rubbed up, but the look is amazing as fook. Nice neon pink... it glows right in the middle and perfectly diffuses out. You've made $50 off this sucker. I can't wait to see the Laser ALT and neon pink cables with this as well as a glow CST trackball modified with a translucent pink ball and UV/purple LEDs. MY STATION WILL BE A SPLASHER SPIN!
WHAT A LONG WAIT THIS IS GOING TO BE AND A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS IT WILL BE!
It was right there in the picture, but I didn't notice until I unrolled it: Uranus and Neptune were swapped on this mat. Uranus is the one with the bonkers axial tilt, and it goes between Saturn and Neptune, not after Neptune.
Oh well.
EDIT: NEVER MIND I'M AN IDIOT. They're all rotated 90 degrees. My wife would like you all to know that she was right and I was wrong
PhotoelectricI'd prefer a mat with an asteroid belt, including Ceres, and the edges of the Kuiper belt with our beloved dwarf planets included... Not just Pluto, but Pluto and friends! Eris, Makemake, Haumea. Why we gotta be hating' on the little guys!
