RayFDepends how you care for your shoes. If you care for these, they will last forever. I have at least 4 pairs of Oak Streets. My Camp Mocs are on their second sole recraft and my boat shoes are on their third. $200 investment and then $100 per recraft every 3-4 years is a pretty good value when you break it down, especially when considering their quality. USA (Chicago) Horween leather is unbeatable.
RayFYou're right. Was just stating the reason for the higher cost. Did not comment on quality, but the Made in Maine ones I have have been pretty solid, except for some venetians I had to send back to get resoled, because the glue was coming undone.
RayFHorween leather is absolutely a guarantee of quality. Not that there aren't other great leathers out there, but Horween, especially their CXL, is certainly among the top and with good care will last for decades.
