The band pins on this watch are really weak and I've gone through about 10 pins already. I even lost my watch in a park for a week (no one else saw it!) and found it by chance the following weeks because the pins keep bending out. The design of the pin holders on the band is not good as it allows for easy bending... this really needs to be fixed... anyone else had similar problems? Otherwise I really love the look of this watch and feels like great quality.

illumanI've changed bands several times and haven't had any issues.

illumanThe bracelet is crap - it's the most obvious sign of the watch's price point. Best to buy it then immediately swap out the bracelet for a nato or other strap of your choice.

illumanIn addition to changing out the pins for a more robust set. You should give NATO or ZULU straps a try. If one pin fails, the strap will hold watch on your wrist preventing it from falling and getting lost.
I've had good luck with BluShark NATO straps. blusharkstraps.com

JFMOU812Good point. I quite like the metal strap but may have to go your suggestion so I don't loose the watch.

Those bands look great but I quite like the metal band... Having said that if I can't resolve it I'll definitely look at a strap.

illumanOrient and Seikos at this price point are known for their steel bracelets being the weakest component. For a couple bucks, you can usually get stronger pins that'll fit just fine and stand up to a gorrilla. Timex Expeditions and Waterburys have amazingly stout pins!As to NATO and Zulu style straps, I've got a few dozen watches, from high end Swiss to almost everything in between them and Casio, and have those, as well as leather, steel, titanium, nylon etc and whether it's a diver, pilot or entry level luxury, nothing beats the Perlon material, and the German company Eulit, for between $20 and $30, makes superbly comfortable and classy looking Perlon straps. There's a lot of makers of Perlon straps, but I've learned Eulit's worth every cent of the few extra bucks they charge.

RangelAgreed about swapping out the pins but the toughest pins in the world can't make up for the hollow end links and the shoddy clasp. I absolutely love the watch - it competes on quality and appearance with my Glycine Combat Sub - but the bracelet betrays its budget origins.
I say chuck the bracelet and put it on a NATO or a stainless milanese strap. . Here's the black face Ray II on a NATO Bond.

illumanI had similar problems (I have on original Ray in Orange) - the solution is to go to a Rolex dealer and buy some original Rolex pins.

illumanI've recently had another issue with the Flip Lock dropping off. I think I may go to Rolex and see if they can repair as suggested by Scosol.

Bit of a disaster this watch... surely it wouldn't be too much to resolve these fundamental issues. I've emailed Orient directly a few times. They responded initially but I think they've given up on me.

I quite like the metal band and didn't think it would be easy to replace it. I'll do some searching. Many thanks!

illumanNot sure if someone mentioned it already but I believe this strapcode stainless bracelet fits the Ray II and Mako II. I've heard they're solid quality and the price is great. Screwed links rather than pins and solid rather than hollow end links - all for well under $100 USD.
