And, you know support standard layouts with an unstepped capslock and 1.25 bottom modifiers. This set is costs $40-50 more than it should and lacks even basic compatability. Unless you're going to be tracking down an RGB(Y?) modifier kit that includes windows keys and a menu key anyway

Sorry, this is BSP PBT which is much better that KP‘s PBT. KP'S pbt is from enjoy PBT. BSP PBT produced keycaps for Cherry keyboard with high quality sub-dye and smoothy touch-feel. The best PBT in this world.
How many sold so far?
cong314159
arguably the best keycaps on the market a lot of people prefer bsp to gmk, less shining, etc.
idk i have yet to buy a set, and i can't afford it, but one day...
neemajon
Thanks for providing some additional color here. I've gotten used to custom keyset prices in general, but this drop made me do a double take.
beyondesign
Well the question is, is this worth the premium over enjoypbt? Epbt is putting out sets with way more keys for less money and in interesting colorways like 9009. They are dye sub pbt as well so they resist shine the same well.
This set work on ducky one tkl guys ? any other link with vintage set, cheap ?
SkyHakuu
No, ducky need 1.25 u ,but this BSP set has no those keys
With that pricing, where are all the novelties, weird sized caps and all the other bells and whistles.
NINJER
That's not how BSP works.
I want, BUT 150US ???? wtf.........
lol banana right shift
It would be so dope to make these with an off-white or light gray print so the type would be very subtle.
This is crazy money for plastic and some design..
Do we know who is dye subbing this kit?
InscrutableDespotism
It was answered below, BSP
Xyzac
BSP manufactures the blanks. They dont do the dye syb.
Excuse me? $160 for a dye sub TKL kit?
I want the other BSP Hammer set not this one!
Hi Guys, Will it fits WASD CODE 87 keyboard? Thanks!
aichixigua
I don't believe so. The bottom row on the code 87 should be standard and this has 1u win keys and is missing a key on the right.
aichixigua
Nope!
But why did someone shop a topre spacebar into the product shots
Where'd the numpad go?
Just quit this drop because, for whatever reason, Massdrop is not giving us any info like who did dyesub, etc

They do do Dye-subbing in house. I assumed it was BSP who was producing and dye-subbing this set. It could be someone else who is dye-subbing these sets.
steveowashere
BSP did the original dyesub Cherry sets in the nineties, but they quit doing dyesub several years ago.
The still have the equipment to do the blank caps.
For 170 the description needs to differentiate the product and we need more than a few pics. A couple years ago I picked up identical cherry profile dye subs and blanks for a third the price. Why is this better than those?
What's the point of including the 6.25u spacebar when the set will only work with 7u?
sauchuang
Because they use gmk spacebars so maybe they thought why not
It says it will fit "most boards" but yet BSP has only ever had 1.5U mods with 1U Win key...
skabei
That's true, the description is such a joke. I couldn't tell you a single OEM board from the last ~20 years where these caps fit.
Lmao what is this price the double legend + graphic logos EnjoyPBT with 117 keys are $80

bsp sets are a tiny bit thicker, it results in a "better" sound. its less than a mm difference but it makes a big difference for people who have tried it side by side.
the texture also is smoother. if that is good or not is subjective.
realistically someone should simply produce thicker pbt caps with new molds, but for the time being, this is the best we got and for many the price difference is worth it. especially since they will be put on keyboards that already cost 500$+++ without keyset.
that being said, the past hammer gb offered better value, has more keys, proven dyesub quality and sublegends. so one should go for these instead.

Thanks for the heads up!
The enjoyPBT caps are really nice. Thick and pleasant. It's tough to imagine what it takes to quintuple the price with 20 more caps.
"But their construction is anything but old: Made from dye-sublimated PBT plastic"
but, i thought most of the older boards used PBT, be it dye sub or double shot? like the model F and M, or big PDP11 admin boards, or
don't get me wrong, PBT is great.. but it is kind of old fashioned at this point, as are most plastics in use today. unless their dye sub process is like... hecking amazing? i'd seen stuff saying SP constantly work to get sharper dyesub legends, are these guys similar? (though either way i find the marketing copy a little odd)

PBT can be as smooth as ABS, it's up to the molds that are used. No one uses smooth molds for PBT caps so it's got a reputation for being rough when that's just the common molds for keycaps.
griftinfou
bsp is pretty smooth fwiw
Is the picture for the green-text keycaps correct? It just looks black
Bloos
I can definitely see the difference between green and black, although it is a very dark green in the photo. They would probably look greener in person.
why are these so expensive? Am I missing something?
ashiraki
they're considered the best at legends for PBT caps. better than enjoypbt. please refer to my link below from geekhack. they're not as active anymore in the keyboard scene.
if anything its good to keep these and resell at a later time due to its relative rarity. i will personally be using it as a permanent set.
droideggs
BSP only makes the caps, the dyesub is done by someone else, and in this instance it’s unclear who produced them.
enjoypbt/gateron/bsp comparison https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=74405.50
What a beautiful modies, they're warped. :p Hopefully, the hammer ones are not like this.
jdos
they are from the same company and same molds
One day I will build a Winkeyless TKL, so I can make use of a BSP set. 😅 Compatibility sucks.
Love the look, hate the price. Unlike another drop here recently, at least this one makes no excuses to go PBT. ABS plastic for the spacebar is odd, as I've had much cheaper sets with PBT spacebars no problem. At least the spacebar is standard.
psiclone
It's because they use the old cherry molds so they can't make spacebars so they use a gmk one
nogoodnames
yeah also longer pbt keys will kinda warp after a while which will lead to rattling, for 2.75 shift it's not a big deal but for 7u spacebar it's really annoying. that's why lots of old keyboards have abs space bar instead (and you can see them having the same color as the abs plastic case)
Make sure that you are aware this kit includes ONLY 87 keys, enough for a TKL board as shown.
