Received it today, and it's already defective. It was advertised as being waterproof and after washing the dishes with the watch on, it's already completely destroyed. What do I do now ? It seems that it wasn't glued on properly at the seams.
So will we be purchasing this with the possibility of the software not being supported in the future?

Fitbit said they will keep the services and updates coming throughout the 2017. Regardless of that, I got the watch because SDK is still available and even if the online services stop working I can upload applications to the watch and make it do stuff I need it to. That said, I realize not many people know how to write software and use development tools but for me this is a perfect hacking watch with good API.
MeanEYE
Yeah you would definitely get more out it than the random everyday consumer.
This watch is uber sexy and stylish so I can see why everyone wants to buy it. I just cant bring myself to pull the trigger on a ticking time bomb. Good luck to those if the gamble pays off though.
JamesX
It is a gamble as you say even though Fitbit said they will keep things running throughout 2017. For me this watch is a perfect toy. Being a developer I can do many things even without the online services. All I need is good API that communicates with my phone and am good which is exactly what this watch has. It is sad that such good product is going away, hopefully Fitbit will create their own stuff with the same level of attention to details and community.
Is this new item?
Amazon seems to be selling these at much better prices. https://www.amazon.com/Pebble-Time-Steel-Deluxe-Black/dp/B01FIAXHCO

Look closely. It's a refurbished watch, not a new one.

Ah thank you.
As a Pebble fan, some news for anyone following: As of this morning, Misfit (a fitness tracker app/Fitbit competitor) has officially ended support for all of their Pebble offerings. Pebble's built-in health offering still syncs with Google Fit, if that's your app of choice.
Does this version support Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean message and Line notification?
p999
It handles Chinese, but I don't think it has the fonts needed for Japanese or Korean. There are some custom firmwares/font packs that add it, but I'm not familiar enough with them to speak to their functionality
I own the original pebble watch and it has been pretty decent. However, I personally wouldn't buy another one due to the fact that developers are likely going to jump off the pebble ship. Why would they keep developing for a product that is confirmed to have no future support down the road? I have already observed some of this behavior with the watch faces I have installed. Some of the functionality has stopped working and I don't expect it to ever work again. I will sorely miss the 6 day battery lIfe.

If you don't already, you should know about Rebble ( https://rebble.io/), a fledgling community of Pebble-owners - including some developers - who are working to utilize the open-source nature of Pebble to continue functionality into the future. Also, https://www.reddit.com/r/pebble is a great resource for Pebble-owners who are not ready to give up the fight to keep these amazing watches running as far into the future as they can.
I owned an original, and now have the Time, and I cannot find another watch which does what Pebble does, as well as it does. I know there are other smartwatches out there, ones that do more stuff, but none of them offers what the Pebble does; namely, insane battery life. I read a great quote about it recently: while many smartwatches do 50 things OK, the Pebble does 15 exceptionally. And I feel like that boils it down perfectly.
T-Mobile is offering Samsung Gear S2 for $72.00 or Gear S2 Classic for $96.00 for a limited time. Either one is much more useful...
Hello Everyone, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are researching this internally as well as having discussions with our vendor partner on this one. We will fully disclose all information to the community as quickly as possible. Thank you.

Is this related to the "Pebble's dead" or something else? "Pebble's dead" was brought up the last time the PTS dropped.
Depends a bit on what you're expecting out of this. I'm in for one, because there isn't really anything out there that fills my needs for a similar price. Here in a few months I'll set the software on my phone to stop auto-updating. No need to let it brick from a future update.
guys dont buy , pebble got bought by fitbit and all pebble watch will stop wotking in some months

good night and have a fun time in loony land here's a couple of sites u will like based on ur ability to blindly believe everything u read http://www.breitbart.com/ http://www.infowars.com/ http://whale.to/ Also user reviews are more important then a couple of quotes by some dev
CadenK
Nice, sorry to leave you hangin'. Holy cow whale.to is a poorly designed website. For the record I do have breitbart favorited...right next to BBC, VICE, CNN and FOX etc. What you do is gather multiple opinions and the come up with a conclusion yourself. Considering I've repeatedly asked you to provide information other than your anecdotal experience it's pretty clear you can't provide information to counter mine. Love how you come up with nothing pertaining to the topic of discussion. (hint, that's how you know you're wrong.) Anyway, good weekend? I take it you voted for the Turd Sandwich over the Giant Douche, what an upstanding citizen. Is mummy proud of you?
they just need to sell out all the garbage till it gets scrapped from the face of the earth ...RIP Pebble :(
prevo
Another person not doing any research.
Hmm, its hard to justify when it may just become a fancy brick....
Edit: So apparently support has been confirmed thru 2017, and that the updates are probably going to move away from cloud features, either way it doesn't look that great for pebble

a quite not so cheap flea market that even Amazon is cheaper and can get stuff done (delivery) sooner(in 2days) than this flea market lol
prevo
Massdroo is a flea market cus they sell products with zero product support. Amazon is more like crazy Eddy's super deluxe emporium. You need toilet paper? Bacon? Maybe an AR-15 assault rifle or a waterproof Mogwai? Crazy Eddy's has you covered.
Shame on Massdrop for not disclosing that Pebble watches and their ecosystem are all but dead. This isn't a good deal.

shame they broke my watch with updates cause I really liked how it worked before fitbit broke it with their last update screw fitbit
CadenK
Not sure what your refering to. Mine is up to date and running just fine. I got a pebble2 just after the announcement to replace my v1 that I dinged the screen of. I cant see why Fitbit would even touch it. If they are smart they just let it sit as is and let it go the way of XP with no updates, no support but still viable.
Much better deal than these were last time at the $120 price point.
Yes, Pebble the company is dead. However, FOSS alternative Rebble.io is making huge strides in replacing it. Pebble was an enthusiast brand in the first place, and I'm curious how many people commenting on this have "unsupported" android phones running some sort of alternate rom flashed. Same thing.
harharhops
Agreed that if you are of the hacker sort and would like to tinker with these devices, this is a good deal. However, it doesn't mean that MD shouldn't be including a proper disclaimer as such.
I don't know why everyone is so upset about this drop, I have a pebble and I love it. I see this as a last chance to get one for those of you who don't have one yet, because honestly they are way better then any of the alternatives in my opinion. Also even if pebble stops supporting this watch, other people have created a new thing that should take advantage of the old store, and create new software for it. If I didn't already have one, I would definitely get in on this.

Yes. They give us a Discussion area so we can speak for ourselves...and learn. It's not just for complaints and gotchas (however convenient it may seem).
There are appropriate times to complain and there are appropriate times to inform.
mass_sean
That is exactly why I check the forum. Even if they put a disclaimer on there, it wouldn't most likely have a long extension about the potential of it being supported by individuals through their own updates. This, giving me a completely different type of intrigue and interest in purchasing this item. Too many different opinions on the purpose of a discussion board. Thank you for your opinions!
I got my pebble time in the kickstarter ans have been using it for almost two years and its slowly starting to die. The battery drains faster. Other than that it runs fine but I wouldn't buy this now since its already two year old hardware and cause there's no support for the device anymore
I feel like I could add some positivity to this thread... Since there isn't any kind of successor to Pebble devices, the community has been gathering arount http://rebble.io/ to create our own support, firmware, store and it seems that, eventually, more devices. Price wise, I consider this really worth it, given any kind of "supported" alternative is likely to be double the price right now (like these were before fitbit)
MD absolutely loses a significant amount of respect for offering this "deal" without a disclaimer.
Shame on you, MassDrop.
Given that the first sentence says "Since taking the Kickstarter world by storm after its initial release, Pebble has continued to upgrade and improve its technology." It's blatantly being ignored what has since happened to Pebble. This is so wrong.
Given the state of Pebble as a company, please include giant disclaimers all over this drop if you have any decency.
The below is taken straight from the big fat banner above pebble.com:
"Pebble has ceased its daily operations, and is no longer producing or selling smartwatches.
Warranty support is no longer available for Pebble watches. How-to information and troubleshooting can still be found on our Support page (https://help.pebble.com/) and in the Pebble Forum. (https://forums.pebble.com/)"
MD selling this makes me sad, and them not letting people know what happend to pebble is even worse. Also this beat out the Motto 2 in the poll???? a whole 17 votes to 200+
As a former owner of a Pebble Time, DO NOT get this. It was a decent smart watch but Pebble's business practices up to and including the day they shuttered were very shady. When I upgraded to Android 7 the notifications (the entire reason I owned the thing) stopped working completely, and if you experience a similar problem, there is no recourse for you whatsoever due to them not existing any longer. The fitness tracking will still technically work but you will not get summary emails. this is also one of the rare occasions where it's not even worth it at the massdrop price, I'm pretty sure you can get it cheaper elsewhere.
LiamW
Use Notification Center for Pebble (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.matejdro.pebblenotificationcenter&hl=en), it's much better than the native notifications.
What year is this?
Echoing the comments below, it's rather sad that MD is not including a disclaimer about Pebble's status (software IP sold to Fitbit, hardware is no longer being supported/manufactured) and the possible future bricking of these devices. Seems shady.
I love my pebble time. But this is not a good investment for now. Wait until a spiritual successor is out. This is not a good purchase now
I've got the non steel version, the phone app still works and is open source, so even if it gets discontinues people will still be making apps for it, its waterproof, which i love and the battery lasts for 4 days of normal use
Pebble is no longer and there will be zero support for this. Once the web service goes dark this watch will be a fancy brick.
If you really must have one, you can find them on Amazon and Ebay for this price or cheaper. At least on Amazon you have 30 days to return it.

FitBit has said they may update the firmware and will keep the web service running through 2017. There is no hardware support at all. I've tried.
I really do hope the software design of the pebble lives on. I appreciate its simplicity in what it does and hate to see it go. I was not a backer, but I was looking forward to the Time 2. It seems to be exactly what I wanted in a watch.
I would buy it only for $50, no more. it will be a garbage before the end of 2017
