Bet you wish you had this in grade school: New from Pentel Arts, the Orenz mechanical pencil provides comfortable, continuous writing without ever breaking the lead. The secret? As your pencil moves across the page, the pipe inside protects the lead. Then as the lead gradually shortens, the pipe automatically slides back with the lead—so you’ll never have to advance this piece of lead again. At the same time, the pipe’s rounded edge creates a smooth, even line without scratching the paper. The Orenz’s nostalgic design is complete with a grooved section, one-click mechanism, and metal pocket clip.
Note: This drop includes four Pentel Orenz mechanical pencils. At checkout, you’ll have your choice of models for each pencil between Black with 0.5mm lead, Pink with 0.3mm lead, Sky Blue with 0.7mm lead, and White with 0.2mm lead.
Before writing, click the end cap until the lead shows from the pipe. Then, press the end cap down with your finger, and at the same time, gently touch the lead to the surface of the paper until the protruding lead is no longer visible. As you write, make sure that no lead protrudes out of the pipe, as advancing too much lead may cause the lead to break. When the pipe slides back completely, click only once to advance the lead. If the pipe retracts after clicking, the lead is too short and you should click until it comes out. When you’re finished writing, retract the pipe fully for safe storage. If your pencil gets jammed up, read Pentel’s tutorial on clearing lead jam.
