Product Description
Small, light, and packing plenty of power, the Petzl Bindi headlamp is great for morning trail runs, evening bike rides, backpacking trips, and more. It has a single LED that projects a strong 200-lumen beam on the maximum setting, as well as three lighting modes that let you adjust the light based on proximity, movement, and distance Read More
I have owned both the Petzl e+Lite and the Petzl Bindi. The Bindi, in my humble opinion, is a definite upgrade. It recharges incredibly quickly, and is very lightweight, while still including decent features and being adequately bright (the e+Lite failed miserably in this respect). BTW - you CAN use it while it's charging, provided you do what I did.....had a power bank kept in a breast pcket, and looped the charge cord through the shockcord so it stayed out of my face. Worked just fine! And contrary to some of the posts here, it does have a red light. There are two things I really like (and I didn't see it mentioned here, but forgive me if it was) about this model. One, is the ability to "lock" it so that the "on" button does not get pressed accidentally while in your pack. More than once, I've had shifting pack contents turn on, and completely wear down, my headlamp. Two, is the ability to wear around your neck, and angle the light different directions. After finding the e+Lite to not be bright enough to get down a sketchy trail in the dark, I had switched to Nightcore NU25, but I like this Bindi even better, and find it worth the price. It lasted 31 hours on low for me, before it died, and it's super light at less than 2 ounces (the NU25 is 2.9 on my scale). If you count grams but still want a comfortable, usable headlamp with a decent amount of lumens, plus the ability to recharge, this is a definite winner.
Massdrop still seems to bring a good variety of gear but it hardly getting things at the lowest price these days. Wiggle.com.au sells the bindi for 60 bucks AUD plus postage which works out the same as this. Which when converted to AUD is 70 dollars with shipping... Surely massdrop you can do better deals... There used to be awesome prices here.
I like the look and weight of this, but my Petzyl Tikka has better battery time for multi day hikes. And for night hiking I woukdn’t want to stop after 3 hours and wait hours for it to recharge off a battery pack. But I think this would be a good lightweight option for those not needing to use it for prolonged periods, and happy to recharge it in town or off a battery pack, like thru-hikers.
GronchoUsing context from the "Namaste" comment in the other thread, it is pretty easy to conclude it was some sort of protest over appropriating a Hindu cultural item for a product name. "Bindi" is the red dot displayed between the eyebrows and top of the nose.
I must admit the comment about young Ms. Irwin made me chuckle.
Oh I wasn't asking what photo was posted, I was asking what "basic brunch sheilas" meant. I'm aware of the Australian term "sheila" but "basic brunch women" doesn't make any sense either. So I was just wondering what @Wonkwonk meant.
(But thank you for commenting -- it's still appreciated :-)
I want to make a headband like this for my spot. Any ideas?

Antnee2.5 elastic and a cordlock. I did this on my 12yr old Tikina. A couple knots and a dab of superglue to keep the elastic from slipping. Knocked about 3/4 of an oz off in 5 min and it is suprisingly comfortable.
In my opinion this is a great upgrade over the Petzl e+Lite compact headlamp. It's a small and ultralight headlamp with a red light for use around camp, looking at close up things, or night hiking when you don't need a very bright light.
djprThey both have red LEDs. The Bindi’s red is accessed by pressing and holding the single control button. And press then sends it into annoying blinking red mode. Not so great.
The white levels are accessed with short clicks of the button - one for low, two for high, 3 for very high. I like the white-light controls. If you only need low level, you don’t get blinded passing thru high.
No red light in that one. Red light is helpful in a shared camp site.

tommaloneyI, personally, don't have a use for a red light. I was merely pointing out that better options for a headlamp were available than the one listed here. Unfortunately, this scenario is becoming more and more common with Massdrop. All too often, the exactly same product offered by Massdrop can be found cheaper and with better shipping options from Amazon.
