For those who are curious, tendon inflamation in the elbow is strongly associated with tightness (and narrowness?) of one's hand grip. Writing with a well balanced, comfortable, large-barrelled pen (like these) uses a more relaxed grip and can help to ease inflamation of the elbow (and cramping in the hand).
My switch to fountain pens came about (partially, at least) as a result of looking for a writing experience that was even easier on the hand and elbow. Now I'm hooked, but I usually carry around one of these for those times when a fountain pen isn't right for the job.
