Part 2: Converters:
The converter included with each pen is the basic aerometric converter. While it is very similar to the CON-20, there are some specific and noticeable differences. For example, the CON-20 is easier to attach/remove without accidentally squeezing the bladder, the capacity of the CON-20 might be a little bit more. And the CON-20 is generally available on its own while the regular aerometric converter is the default converter included here. That said, I use the included converter in 2 of my Metropolitans and it works just fine.
The included converter enables the user to use his or her own ink right out of the gate. At this price, getting a quality pen, nib and converter is a great deal. But the included converter doesn't enable us to see how much ink is left, which can be frustrating at times. If you want to know that, but don't want to (or can't) spring for a CON-50, many people reuse old/empty cartridges and refill them with a ink syringe. Although a more complicated process than simply refilling using a CON-50, the empty cartridge holds about a little more than the included converter and enables the user to see how much is left. Again, videos about how to do this and what equipment is needed are online.
[Aside: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, Massdrop, add a CON-50 "add-on" option to drops like this! I don't need more Metropolitans but I'd get them + a half-dozen CON-50s in a heartbeat. End of aside. UPDATE (5/28): Thanks for adding the CON-50 option. And yes, that was the push that brought me on board, even though I already have 5 of these.]
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
