Somebody didn't recall from elementary school "i before e, EXCEPT AFTER c." "A new chapter for in-dash navigation systems, the Pioneer AVIC-W8400NEX touchscreen navigation reciever..."
Do not buy these units that have integrated GPS because for the price you pay you DO NOT get free map updates which is ridiculus seeing as the GPS is pretty much half the cost of it.
If you are looking for sound quality kenwood excelon line is better.
Can I plug a wireless charger to one of the USB ports?
MrPCgamer
Got the unit from MassDrop. Installed and was able to get the usb android side plugged into a wireless charger, while retaining the usb Apple side for charging older model iPhones. Unit combo with the Apple CarPlay and wireless charger works great. Still figuring how to use Apple maps on night mode in the CarPlay utility
Just go on Crutchfield and look up the reviews. I'm replacing a avic 6200 new that was recently stolen out of my vehicle. after all the research and visiting different stereo shops this is their flagship unit that is well reviewed
Who is going to buy this.. It looks worse than Chinese phone..
ChocoMeatball
what's bad about it?
Anyone have any knowledge on the quality of Pioneer's customer service/product warranty? I usually go Kenwood.
Actually- if purchased through MassDROP is anything covered via manufacturers warranty? First time-potential-buyer. THANKS.

I've been trying to figure this out also, anyone able to clarify this?
SparkySparks
Contacted Pioneer and they said no manufacturers warranty since Massdrop is not an authorized dealer.
Why are these so damn expensive??? Its literally an android/ios tablet with car ports and its only 800x480 resolution wtf, the same as every single other 7 inch tablet receiver.

It supports AA and Carplay wireless, which means it has wifi module build in. There's very few of those in the market. That makes it more premium than the regular AA/Carplay headunits that use cable connection.

It integrates with automotive electronics - so its not competing in the consumer electronics market. It’s competing in aftermarket automotive accessories. It’s called an Insulated market. It isn’t affected by pricing on consumer hardware. Welcome to the party. Get in line and grab your ankles.
So will the radio work in Australia?
thebigo_k
Yes, works 100% . just not in Europe / UK.
I was considering this head unit, but it’s still $200 more than the w4400NEX and I don’t need Navigation
Why is this shipped internationally? The radio tuner is not intended for non-US locations.
NA radio uses odd channel frequencies , e.g 106.7 , 107.3 EU radio uses even channel frequencies, e.g 98.8 , 99.0
EDIT: What I mean is, the radio is incompatible with Europe/UK FM stations. It does work in Mexico,Canada,Australia and any other location where FM stations are broadcasting in odd-channel frequencies as shown above.

Canada and Mexico are apart of North America, and are considered international as they aren't apart of the US.
