These are always sold in pairs, and normal pricing these days is right at the $499.99 price point total for 2. Leads me to believe this drop is in fact for 2 speakers, but obviously we need some clarification here.
So the model number in the title that states LR and the entire industry is selling that exact model which is clearly a pair of speakers is not enough?

Tex-ArozziYou want to speak about industry, fine. Open any website for this product, and every single website, including Pioneer's, clearly states "PAIR" somewhere in the title or at very least, in the description. You are the only one who stubbornly refuses to provide a clear and exhaustive product description. With this sort of lazy attitude it's no wonder your entire website is riddled with errors and omissions that destroy trust in anything you are trying to sell.

Anyone know how much of an upgrade these are over the ones that come in the Onkyo HTS-7700 Home theater package? I bought this dolby atmos system a few years ago, and the front / atmos firing speakers look to be about the same size or maybe a little bit bigger than these but looks like theyre rated for 130W each (per the website, will check in person when i get home). Looking to improve my current system without breaking the bank with something that is a noticeable upgrade, so i was looking at this pair and also the Jamo S 809 floorstanding speakers by Klipsch (they are 270 at frys for the pair) with a promo code (300 off). Only trade off is the 809 does not have an included atmos speaker, so that is to be bought separately. Also worth my current right atmos/front speaker is partially blown (gives off a staticy like sound) from the atmos side in certain scenes. I Upgraded my AV Receiver so i am using a Pioneer Elite LX103 and it works much better than the stock onkyo one.

I would have to think so. Klipsch says they run efficiently. I think I have and old 15 watts per channel amp driving some Klipsch outdoors in the summer. 100 should be plenty.

YOLOdactylAwesome, Thank you! I will be stopping by my frys to see them on display and see if i can hear a difference and continue to look into it a bit more before i make a decision. Really Appreciate your help!

Any FR charts out there?
rdodevSpeakers are typically measured in an anechoic chamber, something that doesn't really translate much into how your room will affect it. Most speaker manufacturers will quote a tolerance of their frequency response spec, pioneer did not do that with this speaker. An excerpt from the audioholics review:
" The SP-EBS73LR bookshelf boasts a frequency response of 50Hz-20kHz, where the SP-EC73 extends the response down to 45Hz (numbers are TBA on the tower). Unfortunately no tolerance was provided for these specifications, which decreases their value. However, both should dig deep enough to integrate properly with a subwoofer. In terms of electrical specifications, it should be noted that both the bookshelf and center speakers are rated to be 4 ohm nominal, and they both feature a below average sensitivity of 85dB w/ 2.83V at 1m (or 82dB w/ 1W as they are 4 ohm speakers). Taken together, those numbers indicate buyers would be well advised to pair these speakers with solid amplification, especially if you plan to use them in larger rooms and/or at higher listening levels. "

Side Note: These are designed by Andrew Jones so I highly doubt they will be crap. He comes from KEF, TAD, Pioneer and now on to ELAC.

It's mind boggling to me that you can think of charging consumers $500 (yes it's $330 on Massdrop, but the MSRP is listed as $500) for a pair of bookshelf speakers and only a two year warranty. Do you have that little confidence in your high-end product? Or is it greed? Or lack of respect for the consumer? Whether it's one of those or none of the above, it's hard to respect the company even if the speakers have outstanding quality. In many other fields, long warranties are a significant factor in the quality of products. If I'm paying this much, the company had better be willing to stand behind their product. I'm pretty sure my cheap toaster had a longer warranty than these speakers. To be fair, they're not alone. Many supposedly high end audio products have short warranties. And I have just as little confidence in those other products as the respective companies do.

Would these be good for rear speakers in a 5.1 and then when I buy a new receiver that supports atmos can they stay in the rear?
NotThatCoolThey will definitely work in that capacity. If you drive your speakers to high volumes keep in mind these are pretty damn inefficient.

Yes, but the Andrew Jones Pioneer Elite speakers (with concentric drivers) such as this SP-EBS73-LR bookshelf speaker  only comes with the Atmos speaker which would be wasted on strictly two channel audio (and at a considerable additional cost).
The cheaper second generation non-Elite Andrew Jones Pioneer speakers (without concentric drivers) include normal bookshelf speakers (SP-BS22-LR) in addition to Atmos bookshelf speakers (SP-BS22A-LR) and Atmos modules (SP-T22A-LR). They are also frequently on sale.

We got a message indicat a potential delay in shipping them out. Any idea how much of a delay? I’m literally without speakers now since I returned the ones I had before the return period expired. I was expecting these soon.

This is an old speaker and it does not cost $500 now-a-day. I saw it for around $350 all the time. Why Massdrop have it for $500? Please explain?
flintrockWe are offering them for $350. Please take a look at the drop description page under the main paragraph that states the following.
Note: The drop price listed is the Minimum Advertised Price set by the manufacturer. Massdrop is not allowed to advertise a lower price than the MAP price.   At checkout you will be able to apply a coupon for (-$150) towards your purchase.

The concept of an upward firing woofer is not new, but it is very effective as far as room interaction is concerned. The best example I can think of is the venerable Allison SIX. The SIX is a cube that's 12" in dimensions. The tweeter is in the front, and the woofer is at the top. It is a four ohm design that has to be cranked up fairly loud to get the full impact of how good the sound coming from these diminutive speakers are, especially in the bass frequencies. In fact, the entire Allison speaker line has the smaller speakers with the upward firing woofer design. The SEVEN, and EIGHT models are floor-standing models with the upward designed woofer. The FOUR, FIVE, and SIX are bookshelf designs. One of the things evident in the Allison speakers is the lack of porting. The speakers are of a sealed design that allows them to be placed directly against the wall without the ever present boomy sound that a typical ported speaker design produces. Even though these speakers have the midrange at the top, and not the woofer, the room interaction concept is incorporated in the design. The Allison FOUR is one of the best sounding bookshelf speaker of all time, IMHO, and that's because of the fact that Roy Allison didn't rely on anechoic chamber measurements to design his speakers. Instead, the speakers were designed to be place directly up against the wall, with the woofer on the top of the speaker carcass, and instead of an artificially boomy sound that often plague most speakers when placed close to the wall, these placement issues are not present with these Roy Allison designed speakers. They were designed to take the room into account when they were designed. The newest trend in the AVR world are the room correction software suites that come with all AVR's and audiophile class preamplifiers and amplifiers such as DIRAC software and other proprietary designs. Now, with the ATMOS designed incorporation's in modern speaker technology that are in vogue, these speakers are highlighting the usefulness of the room boundaries incorporated into these modern designs. Since these speakers were designed to interact with the room boundaries in mind, and are to be used with room correction software, the problems associated with these ever present conditions are somewhat eliminated, as long as the room is corrected with the appropriate solutions incorporated in the software's guidelines. Steve Jones has designed these speakers with these room boundary interaction concepts in mind, and we can now enjoy the ATMOS channels that are designed to give the listener more of a spatial relationship with the sound coming from the ceiling as well as the walls when listening to DOLBY encoded program material that is ATMOS incorporated. One of the points that I am trying to make here is that these speakers are for the incorporation of DOLBY ATMOS equipped audio components, and are for a somewhat specialty niche. I am excited to see what this technology can do with the newest surround sound audio technology.
