I didn't want to pay to assemble a bigger LED array, so I wrote a sim, instead: https://github.com/dhorlick/spirited_array
Can I watch science on this?
I recently picked up from SeeedStudio the board for this kit (at least it looks like the same thing) https://www.seeedstudio.com/Pixel-v2.5-maker-kit-p-2451.html Some good info on that page to gauge if you're interested in playing with these. I haven't tried mine out yet with a panel I got long ago from Adafruit (https://www.adafruit.com/category/327)
I contacted the devoloper for the apps that are used to control this panel and he wrote some new code for the color swapped PIXEL v2. Works like a charm now.
Received mine yesterday, I have a row of eight that is not lighting red. I too have the reversed blue/green values as well.
Received the product today. Plugged it in and connected to my phone. IT works but it seems to be mixing up blue and green values. (I.e. blue images display green). Not sure what to do about it.

Ridiculously overpriced considering you can get the LED panel for 40 usd. The micro with bluetooth and software do not amount to the price.
Does anyone know if this kit would work with three more of these led panels from adafruit? Are there any other components I would need to get?

This page has a list of panels that are known to work and tells you which can be daisy chained for 64x64 http://ledpixelart.com/pixelv2board/
I used 2 32x64 panels for my 64x64 panel.
Okay, I've done some research now. I see how this was a kickstarter campaign and they have a more polished version on amazon for $300 (includes tinted plexi front for diffusion, a stand and some mounting hardware.)
I also see that there is a great community around this project and the IOIO source it uses. Lots of amazing pixel artists contributing and sharing their work. Very cool stuff.
I REALLY want this, but I just don't know about the price. I mean, I totally get it. I love pixel art. I love DIY. But at these prices, you could buy a cheap tablet the same size and just put a slideshow on it.... and it's a full tablet.
I still think it's awesome, and I might buy one, but my brain is telling me it's nonsense. :(
Very cool. Going to have to do some research to see how I could make this look cool (hide the cables, frame it behind the parchment and tinted glass, etc...).
Does anyone know how this works with windows? Assuming you have to have on-board bluetooth, right?

I made a 64x64 variant of this a few months ago and used a shadow box as an enclosure with tinted acrylic as the front panel. It turned out pretty nice. There are a few shots of it here if you're interested https://plus.google.com/116676741692028829704/posts/T9omLa9HEJj
