I have ordered the 78g but I am so undecided with which switches to buy. I am trying to compare your experiences and preferences for the following: MX Browns Zealios 65g Zealios 78g MX Clears

GonadiumI haven't ordered because I have the same problem! I've ordered 67g zealios for my mistel barracco cuz I don't like mx browns, but they don't ship until march.
My experience: I find mx browns WAY too light to type on. MX clears are great, especially after breaking them in. But for me, they can be a tad too heavy at times.
Browns are decent with gmk keycaps. MX clears really shine with pbt or SA keycaps.
Since I am going to use the planck for programming, I would prefer a slightly lighter feel to cherry clears.
Pok3r > mx clears and pbt keycaps Mistel Baracco > browns (going to zealios 67g?) with gmk (ABS) keycaps *Planck > 78g or 67g zealios (ABS or PBT keycaps?)
Keyboard collecting can get expensive. I am just struggling with keeping all my boards different. First world problems, eh?

GonadiumQuestion is what switches in the list have you tried??
If you are just starting out, then the gateron browns are said to be better than the cherries and then progress on to the more expensive options in the future if you find them not to your liking. I personally loved the clears and hate browns because of the lack of bump in the browns.
And if you really have to have the "bump", Cherry clears are definitely the most tactile of the lot and heaviest weighted.

GonadiumI don't like Browns that much, they have a really small bump and they're so light that avoiding bottoming out is practically impossible. Clears have been my go-to switch for a while and I enjoy using them a lot.
I'm currently experimenting with lighter springs for the weaker fingers like the pinky and while I determined the very heavy tactile greys to be too heavy for me it seems like I might end up using them for the middle finger at least on the home row. Gaterons (and Zealios since they're from the same factory) are the least scratchy switches I've tried, genuine Cherry MX is definitely worse in that regard.
I like the idea of using linear switches just for the modifier keys as they are keys that you tend to want to hold down so bottoming out is not a factor.

GecktI forgot to say that. Yes I am new to mech keys. For this drop I will be paying over $200aud, which is no small amount. This is why I am asking these sort of questions because I want to try and get the switches I think would suit me best first go. And I have also ran out of time to get a tester kit.
I have heard a lot of people saying that they bottom out on Browns a lot. I want to avoid this and get much more proficient at touch typing. Also I like the idea of an obvious and tactile bump to help me... Which is why I have narrowed the choice to these four. It sounds like Browns may be to light. Now you have talked about the clears.. What is your opinion of 65g vs 78g zealios?

GonadiumBrowns aren't exactly too light-weighted, but, the "bump" or tactility is almost too hard to be felt for many like myself.
I would actually reccomend that you try the 65g's as the bump felt stronger to me in such case, yes I am a big fan of the heavy/clear switches but I doubt that you will like that too much on their own unless you intend to mod them further with lighter springs since they are the heaviest switches in your list of interested switches for options. It can get too tiring to type for prolonged periods of time with heavier switches so it's like something in the middle of the bunch if I have to say.
78g's are very nice too but overall much smoother and it maybe an acquired preferences for some, and less "bumpy".
PS: Bottoming out or not also depends on your personal typing habits and that it's unavoidable unless you are very accustomed to heavy spring weights such as anything weighs like the greens which are designed for the intention to reduce bottoming out.

GecktOk cool. When you say 78g are less bumpy. Do you mean compared to clears or the 65g?
I would have guessed the 65g and 78g would have the same bumpiness. Is that the case?

GonadiumYes, except 78g feels smoother imo.
Modding key switches are ultimately what many would do to get their own perfect switches but it ain't cheap if you're gonna buy springs and extra stems for modding.
I am personally typing on a board with Cherry clears with 67g gold springs, lubed. They're my fave at the moment. Not too light, yet not too heavy for a whole day's worth of typing on random stuff like this post.
PS: This is purely thru personal experiences with the switches myself. In the order of the most tactile (left) to the least (right): Clear, 65g Zealios, 78g Zealios, Gateron Browns and lastly Cherrry MX Browns.

GecktIf you want a heavier bump, go with MX Grays. They're very nice and stiff. I haven't tried MX Clears yet.
My favorite switches are currently a toss-up between 62g and 67g Zealios. I have several boards with 67g zealios, one of which has 67g alphas and 62g everything else. That one is my most comfortable board to date. I'm fine with MX browns, of which I've got three Kinesis Advantage boards with MX Browns. I have a board with Gateron Browns that I don't use much because it's a traditional staggered layout and I prefer ortholinear boards, and another with Gat Browns that I've swapped out the springs with 67g springs. That board is so very comfortable to type with.
If you're on the fence, I'd go with 67g Zealios. They're by far my favorites to date.

Xyverzlol Read before you post mate, don't mislead.
Beside, even if the guy is asking for a comfortable switch to try not looking for the heaviest tactile switch available.
well, in any cases I will have to agree. 62 and 67's are the sweet spot.
72 is a tad over and when lubed it's sluggish I felt.
Anyhow, the Clear VS Zealio stems always have a huge debate where I wouldn't want to go into but I preferred clears more than Zealio stems for sure.

GecktSo ... you might want to reload and reread my comment. Apparently, Massdrop thinks an accidental escape keypress is a Submit press. :-( I got started and *bamf!* there it was with just "If you want a heavier bump, go with MX Grays"... I had to edit the post to finish what I wanted to say.

Xyverzyea, damnit!
My Apologies, mate.
Nice to see a fellow user who's into trying different tactile switches and had similar preferences.

So, to better answer the question, YES the bump will technically be the same, but different weights can simply make the feeling change. The bump is made by the little legs you can see in my image above (These are MOD switches, but all MX variants are like this). The "feel" of how a weight affects the feel of a switch is all pretty subjective based on the user, and how fast they type.
