This is the new Planck! STM32 and a bunch of goodies - the same that the Preonic got in its latest drop. USB-C is the future, so I've integrated that, hot-swap sockets, and footprints for some cool add-ons, like a Qwiic port (https://www.sparkfun.com/qwiic) that will work well with Sparkfun's ecosystem, along with some other things that we're cooking up! Other footprints include WS2812B LEDs, a 4-channel DIP switch, a JST power plug, 4 encoder footprints, and some headers for breadboard fun - all these components will be coming up in a future drop with compatible Mod cases. By default, only the encoders and RGB LEDs will fit into the standard case without modifications. We're also offering the Mid-Pro case for the first time in this drop - it gets this name because it's the same size as the Lo-Pro cases offered in the past, but uses the Hi-Pro top plate, so you can easily change between them if you want to change things up in the future. This also allows for some more color customizations that will coming up in a future drop as well :D Here's some more pics of the red & yellow cases, in case you want to try to match some popular keysets with them ;)

jackhumbertAny chance the future drop has a Quiic joystick with an mx plate mount so we can have mouse control and never have to take our hands off the board?

KamikazeSmurfDo you have a link to the Quiic joystick? Googled it and found nothing of consequence.

PandemosSure, if you click Jack's link (https://www.sparkfun.com/qwiic) and scroll down it's shown in the Quiic starter kit. Direct link here: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14656

KamikazeSmurfGot it, you spelled it Quiic with a U and it's actually spelled Qwiic with a W. I was wondering why I was getting a failed search. Cool project, does everything come with pre-written firmware or is it something one writes themselves?

PandemosArgh! I'm sorry for the typo!! That would explain the failed searches for sure 😔 Sorry about the confusion!! With the firmware I'm pretty sure you would have to write that part yourself. You would have to read the joystick position and map that to mouse movement yourself in firmware. Something like this I think: https://www.sparkfun.com/tutorials/337

jackhumbertHere I was wondering why you were releasing this again, but then I realize this is the Planck and not the Preonic that was dropped earlier. Which is a bummer, because I wasn't sure on Ortho boards, but since I've been using my XD75RE, I've really been liking it, and don't really find a need for the extra three columns but do need the 5th row. Guess I'll have to find some of the Preonics on mech market when they ship.
Also, since you're the guy with the chip tune noises, how easy/difficult is it to modify the noise created? Reason I ask, I have my XDA 8bit keycap set and would love to mimic the NES game genie tones for text entry and explosion noise when deleting. I'm very limited on programing knowledge, I've just been doing QMK flashing on my current boards using exisitng utility programs, so I'm not too much into deep code modification.

IcyhateThe pcb’s are sold out right now even. ☹️ I was incorrectly reading the website. At the time I commented here, the high top case was sold out, but the pcb's were in stock; and I ordered one.

jackhumbertThis picture shows the assembled Planck V6 with OLKB Acute keycaps having two convex 2u R4 keys. https://massdrop-s3.imgix.net/product-images/planck-mechanical-keyboard/FP/3TNlZf7rSQaUeNB8potH_Massdrop%20x%20OLKB%20Planck%20Mechanical%20Keyboard%20Kit%20V6%20MD-894978193-Edit-2.jpg?auto=format&fm=jpg&fit=max&w=518&h=308&dpr=4&q=20 The rest of the pictures don't show convex 2u R4 keys, and the OLKB Acute keyset pic only shows one included 2u key. https://massdrop-s3.imgix.net/product-images/planck-mechanical-keyboard/FP/2VFMahX0QAa18SD4Wpou_acute_keycap_set_planck_rev6.jpg?auto=format&fm=jpg&fit=max&w=574&h=364&dpr=4&q=20 So is the first photo of a build that cannot be achieved based on what's available in the drop, or is it attainable but the OLKB Acute pic is simply in need of updating?

MacGamerFRAll of my OLKB purchases made here on Drop included a USB-C <-> Type-A cable with nice and sturdy and firm braided construction. The connectors for both USB styles on either end fit perfectly and snugly in the keyboard and in any of my PC's motherboard USB-A ports. The same applies to the recent Preonic and Planck models dropped late 2018/early 2019.

equaluniqueSorry for the delay, but it was just meant to state that all of the possible scenarios you described in your comment are likely to be the case in some form or another. OLKB is backlogged and I’m sure that there has been some overlap between releases to satisfy shortages for parts on orders.

jackhumbert@jackhumbert Please could you make some official statement of your attitude to open-sourcing the hardware? If yes, where is the schematic and other files published? If not, why not as this makes all the carefully thought out extension features very difficult to use. Even if you do not want to make it easy for others to manufacture PCBs, how about still publishing just the schematic for those of us who will purchase from you, but want to make modifications?
