Purchased the Poetic system from Massdrop, and received them last month. I am using them on Westone 4Rs with two pin connector. Sound quality is not better, in fact seems less dynamic; more two dimensional.
Fit is not good. The connectors are large barrels with a gold nodule sticking out one side. Unfortunately, the side they stick out is toward your ear, so with the IEMs inserted the nodules poke into your ear. The feeling is uncomfortable, if not painful. The cables are soft, but with enough body to go where they want to go; not where you want them. If worn behind the neck, they tend to bulge out off the ear - away from your head. If you cinch the cables with the bead, they stay close to the head and over the ear, but the cinched cable sticks straight out - perpendicular to your neck. If you look up, it moves the entire assembly working the IEMs out of good seal (this after using four different Comply Foam tips - Tri-flange silicone tips didn’t move but were less comfortable.) If worn in front of the neck, the cables fall away from the head and pull on the IEMs, just not an option. It would help if they included a mailable wire to help form them over the ear and close to your head. I actually separated the cable braid and inserted the top of my ear between them to keep the cables in place! It looked stupid, felt wrong, but worked.
The control module seems awkwardly placed. It falls right behind the ear facing inward toward your head. It is not convenient and works to move the IEM unless you are very careful. Also, how do you turn these off? It appears that you hold down the main button for twenty minutes or so - hyperbole of course, but it is like 5 seconds...maybe more? It seems to enter pairing mode first? Just makes me feel unsure that they really are off.
Battery life is not good. I have two other Bluetooth amps; both last considerably longer. My preferred unit is the Asome. I can run that unit for days of my “normal” listening. This Plussound unit barely lasted a day. I acknowledge this isn’t scientifi, but in comparison I’d say it last 33% as long as the Asome did. I was very surprised.
The build quality seems good. Unfortunately, for reasones stated above I actually went back to my old setup with wires and my Asome. I really wanted to like these, they look great, but are uncomfortable and certainly don’t enhance the sound. This turned out to be an expensive experiment.
