No word from massdrop on warranty...this is only 200 less than polyscience website and 100 less than amazon. At this lack of discpunt it should really be stated if it has warranty
Did other people receive their Control Freak shipped from the vendor? Also did other people notice the sticker on the bottom of the box has a date of 2016 indicating the units are old stock? Does anyone know if Breville upgraded the Control Freak since then? Lastly, did other people notice that the box has been opened and re-taped TWICE? That's right - three layers of tape (the bottom two of which were cut). Could these units be returns, display units, or refurbished instead of new as advertised? To make matters worse Massdrop doesn't respond to emails - after I replied 3 times I got an automated message my ticket will be closed because I didn't reply! I have to say I'm very disappointed in Massdrop and I'm certainly going to think twice before buying something expensive from them again.
j_b_rHello,
This is Jesse from Massdrop, I can confirm we have reached out to you every time you have written in. There are several support requests we have responded to, but we haven't received replies to our emails back to you. Have you ensured our emails are whitelisted in your email system?
I would check your spam and whitelist/mark not as spam to ensure you receive our replies.
Thanks,
Jesse
j_b_rMine had zero issues and no they did not update the device since then. Not sure what you are implying here but my unit shipped via MD was brand new and was identical to the one I bought previously via Amazon.
Additionally manufacturers like Breville/Polyscience often ship via a separate storefront (such as All-Clad using Home and Cook Sales as theirs). So I wouldn't assume it was shipped via some obscure company.
Would be nice to have MD answer the question however.
As for me I'm super happy with mine.
I bought more than one Control Freak with the intention to gift. One of them arrived with significant box damage (it was badly ripped and punctured in several places with a large oil stain on one corner). The appearance is that of B-stock. Products sold as new should arrive in intact packaging. Anyone else get one in similar condition? I contacted MassDrop support and asked for an exchange. They replied they wanted me to open the box to see if there is any internal damage. Since this was intended as a gift I informed MassDrop I have no intention of opening the box - after which they haven't replied to two emails requesting an exchange. Did anyone else receive B-stock merchandise in similar condition? I've very disappointed in MassDrop and cannot recommend them to others. When you spend $1400 for an item it shouldn't arrive looking like it fell of the back of a truck! If they don't assist I'll proceed with a chargeback.
I previously read this was for commercial use only and household use wasn't covered under the warranty. Has that changed? Normally it's the other way around. Also, I read that Breville and Polyscience don't sell replacement probes so if yours breaks you're out of luck. That doesn't make sense for such an expensive unit. Is there any way to order extra or replacement probes?
Here is the part number for the probe: CMC850BSS/6.01.
I had to email Breville again since I couldn't find it and they replied back. This pretty much confirms it!
I love my unit and suggest picking one up if it's in the budget. Cheers.
SantiagoDraco@SantiagoDraco - Thanks so much, you are terrific! Yes, I joined the drop! Your being so supportive of the product was very helpful. Thanks and happy cooking!
j_b_rHopefully the fact that it did sell out will motivate MD and Breville to make another drop. This unit was originally designed for commercial kitchens and caterers so I don't think it get's much exposure in the consumer market.
