What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

Final finish with zealencio clip, pmk keys (raise, space, and lower are from a grab bag), and sorbothane sheet.
Switch: does not feel the quality of zeal - finish are rougher than r6/7/8/9 zealio direct from zealpc. Sticker does not make much difference on my other builds but make a big difference for this kit. They strongly stabilized the switch base. One faulty switch - great that massdrop provided one extra.
I would use my owner switches during group buy in future.
This keyboard is an average Joe even with lube. After replacing the canvas xda with PMK SA (or GMK cherry, any quality caps), it became awesome. Glad for people did not spent extra for the design. The craftmanship is way under taihao.
Specific complain on the XDA canvas caps: roughest finish for all PBT set I owned. Short stem cause they hit the plate. If I use this cap, there is no need to do any silencing work / resonance, no difference due to the noise above.
Use better keycaps is the key to make it better.
Always prototype one switch with SIP, lube, sticker, and check against pcb. SIP fit in well - lower than flush.
Stickers: my first keyboard that they makes a difference.
Lubed switches and put caps on - one faulty identified - metal clip broken.
1.8mm led
Put sorbothane sheet in case, assembled with SA caps and silencing clips.
