Product Description
Great for solo cooking or sharing a meal with a campmate, the Primus Eta Spider stove set is lightweight, versatile, and incredibly fuel efficient. It includes the Eta Spider burner, a 1-liter ceramic-coated pot with a lid, a Piezo igniter, a windscreen, and a plastic bowl Read More
looks huge for a single person cook kit. Also seems odd that although the stove has the preheating element, it would not be possible to invert the canister due to the valve knob placement!
Yep. That's why they say (here and on their site) it's a 3 season stove - not meant for really cold or really high-altitude use - conditions where inverting the stove is beneficial. Also, I'm not sure how inverting the canister will work with their ETA fuel-saving technology; maybe it will render it useless?
that new cooking system looks crazy ! I just wish you could fit the gas canister inside the bowl too, so far it seems it would end up being bigger (ratio: cooking material/people to feed) than what I use for now: gsi dualist plus kovea hydra. Oh ! and did I mention how quiet the kovea burns ?
Can we use any brand of fuel canister or does it have to be a Primus canister? Also how hard is it to find parts for this stove if it breaks? It looks like it is no longer in production? Or maybe I am wrong?
I'm wondering what you guys think of this one VS the Express? the only benefit that I really see of this one vs the express is a larger wind screen and this one burns like 120-ish minutes whereas the express is rated for 89 minutes. thanks in advance

LefibonacciI don't have the Express, just the Spider so I can't compare.
I got this one because it's low profile (easier to hide from the wind?) and seems to have a better windscreen.
As for the different burn times, my guess is that it's due to the fuel line. Pressure loss flowing thru the line? I don't know for sure though.
Personally I never (or rarely) run a burner full blast anyways (seems so wasteful of fuel) so I'd probably get similar burn times with either. Again, I don't know for sure since I don't have both.
So my hysband commited at the lowest price and I thought I had seen that it was reached however, he has not been charge.... help?

trailcatI'm just a member and don't recall how that drop went so don't have an answer. The only thing I can think of is that maybe not enough people committed to unlock the drop.
So far this time there's 14 purchases so I can't imagine this drop not happening. I suppose a few (at least 3?) could cancel at the last minute but that seems pretty unlikely.
