Making its official debut on Massdrop before anywhere else, the Proelia TX011 is a beefy folder for heavy duty cutting, piercing, and anything that requires some serious effort. Built like a tank, it’s got a D2 tool steel blade for excellent toughness and edge retention Read More
I’m oddly in love with this knife despite some serious fit and finish issues with the blade. My grind was uneven and the blade geometry was off asa result. But man the ergos make up for all of that
Just to clear up confusion I have, this Massdrop is the ‘TX011 G-10’. Just about a week or so ago, there was an end to a Massdrop offering the Proelia ‘TX010 G-10’. Is the knife in this current ‘drop and the previous ‘drop the same knife? If there is at least a visual difference, I was not able to notice it.
Edit... OK.., I answered my own question. The TX011 (3.36” blade) included in this ‘drop is the smaller version of the TX010 (3.75” blade) included in the previous ‘drop.
This is great..., at least I’m now less confused in general than what I was when I first woke up this morning LOL.
Right after this drop ended I noticed that they opened a drop for the TX021. Since I really prefer that blade shape, I reached out to Massdrop customer service asking if they could help me out by switching me to the new drop. I have been a long-time loyal Massdrop customer and have purchased a lot of knives through them. I asked them to kindly make an exception and allow for the exchange even though the drop had just ended. I was very disappointed to get a response with a fairly generic response about no cancellation after the drop ends. I think I need to take my business elsewhere since they don't care about trying to help keep customers happy. I was asking for a switch so they would still have a sale and it was hours after the drop ended not days or worse when they had shipped. To me it is a very reasonable request and I even emphasized that I understood that it would be a one time exception as it is not there standard practice. Bottom line is they don't seem to care.
I am sharing this experience so that you can make an informed decision about dealing with Massdrop. You may save a couple of bucks (not always) but you are definitely losing on customer service. Up to you what is more important.
Good luck to everyone.
Cheers....
if you shrunk this down to a 3in drop/spear/wharncliffe blade, i would definitely overbudget this month for that black and red one...
very cool, how they include a pocket clip on both sides! really shows how much they cater to both design and customers
