For those of you who joined the first drop, how do you like this player so far?
It looks like a really cool piece of kit but there are a lack of reviews on the darn thing.

milkywayI got one in the first drop. It's an interesting player. As others have said before, the UI is very basic. I got used to it pretty quickly and it's not a problem. though if you're expecting something super intuitive a la Apple, this is not it. Sound quality is fantastic, as it build quality. It drives the Hifiman HE-400 very well. I also tried it with an Oppo PM3 and a Vintage Sony V6. It does play all the formats that it claims to play, though I haven't had a chance to try the SACD ISOs yet. It does have one quirk - when switch in the middle of a piece of music to another, there is sometimes a very brief transient blip that isn't expected. Construction is very solid - it feels like a solid brick of metal. I'm happy with mine and I don't regret the purchase as I wanted a very high quality sound and wasn't looking to put in the huge bump from here to go to any of the other products. I also purchased it knowing fully well that it's of Chinese manufacture and I've been bitten before by Chinese devices. Happy to answer any questions that I can.

AlephNullThanks a lot for your impressions. They are really helpful. Yes the sound quality definitely seems intriguing. I am a big fan of the CS4398 implementation that I heard when I previously owned an AK100II (sold because it was way too expensive for daily use) and was looking into a cheaper and more rugged option.
As for song browsing, you can only folder browse correct? From what I understand, this player doesn't read tags. If I wanted to shuffle all of my songs would I need to create a big folder and dump all of my songs into it?

milkywayThe player does understand folders but only one level. So you can't, for example, create folders for genres and then have bands/groups underneath. I have been going folder by folder and haven't tried shuffle. Will do so and get back to you, but I suspect you are right about the big folder. The UI is really rudimentary at best.
