Oh hey, I forgot to mention that it might not stop an enthusiast from opening it one handed. I got a Pelican and I'm able to thumb roll the blade open reliably, just using a little pressure against the flat of the blade. Granted that's a steel liner lock but they can do a smooth build for sure.
BobrazExactly. How do you know what one is ordering. One pic has description with thumb hole (grey) and the blue has thumb hole, but not in description.
It's a very well-made knife for the money, with a few minor flaws. Watch the non-shill review on youtube. I'm not sure if the issues have been corrected in this thumb-stud version.
I got mine, it's awesome, the slot is best used with an index flick. Thumbs and spydie are possible but I think you have to practice the thumb more and it's slower or less reliable, and the knife is compact enough that it's faster and less grip-shifty for me to use the index reach down style of flick than to aim my middle finger. Fits the slot better too. Really light, it has milling pockets inside, just a generally impressive knife for the price.
Thumb studs are definitely the way to go on this one - a flipper tab would have ruined the clean lines. Two things though: 1) Dump/move the QSP logo on the blade and 2) Move the studs toward the pivot to give a bit more blade length on "through" cuts (as previously mentioned). A bit more overall length would be nice, but might flatten out the perfect arch in the closed position. This is good looking blade, so I'm debating...
I would purchase if the blue version came with thumb studs. Same with the black/black version. What would really be cool is that they would list the components and you would build your own sort of custom knife.
