Base Layers in 4 Fabric Weights

Made for hikers, climbers, runners, travelers, and anyone who needs comfortable, quick-drying garments in the great outdoors, these base layers range from lightweight short-sleeve tees to heavyweight long-sleeve zips. All are made from MeCo fabric, which combines the warmth and softness of merino wool with 37.5 Technology: a performance polyester that, thanks to its activated carbon particles, removes moisture vapor unlike any other fabric. This makes MeCo fabric moisture-wicking, odor-resistant, and ideal for a range of activities and multi-day use. Designed to be worn next to the skin, these slim-fitting garments will remain comfortably in position when additional layers are added.

The History of Rab

Rab was founded by Scottish mountaineer Rab Carrington in 1980s—but the seed for the company was planted much earlier. In 1973, Carrington found himself in Buenos Aires, his expedition to Patagonia aborted due to a UK dock strike that had delayed the arrival of his equipment. He decided to stick around, and took up work sewing sleeping bags for the Argentinian army. Today, those skills and ethos of adventure can be seen in Rab’s full line of performance clothing, sleeping bags, mountaineering tents, and extreme expedition gear.
