I understand it does not ship with a converter, so can anybody point out which converter fits and is good to use on this pen. Going to try to use a converter rather than a cartridge. thanks.

I bought the Regal Queen for my wife as a Christmas gift and was disappointed that no converter or cartridge came with it. I ordered the converter from Goulet Pens that was suggested in this thread and tried it. It does fit snugly in the feed, but the handle of the plunger does not fit when the converter is filled. When screwing the body back on it pushes the plunger down, thus pushing out the ink. I have looked inside to see if there is something stuck up in there and it is empty. While the pen is a nice looking pen, I will be very cautious of Regal brand in the future. I am not comfortable in giving it to my wife now because nothing fits in it, this pen is going to end up being a dip pen at best. I know some are hacking some converters/cartridges to fit, but I think that if you are buying a pen that is made recently then it should come ready to write with one form of ink storage or the other. I expect it with some vintage pens, but not this.
Follow up. My wife loves the pen and the smoothness of the nib after I gave it a few strokes across the tuning paper you get from Goulet Pens (can't remember the technical name at the moment.) I previously complained about not having a converter. I ordered one that was supposed to fit, but it didn't. So I would refill a cartridge with my wife's choice of ink. Then one day while cleaning it, I felt something finally move in the barrel. Keep in mind I had tapped this thing a lot to see if something was jammed in there. Well this time a cartridge came out. What looks like happened is the cartridge was put in there had a leak and the ink acted as an adhesive and a seal. After being carried around and used by my wife it came loose. The cartridge that came out was covered with ink. I cleaned out the barrel and tried the converter from Goulet, it worked perfectly. All in all this is now one of my wife's every day carry pens. She totes around 6 filled pens, each with a different ink, in her purse at any given tume.

I am very surprised to read this. Even though I have a cartridge in (which is btw is waterman ink cartridge S0111000), I just tried to put that converter into the handle and it goes it so deep thatI don't even see the nose of it. So, it is either the pens are not all the same or your has something in the handle that is not supposed to have. That converter is 2" long and the handle is a bit over 3". As for the pen, I love it, it sits so well in my hand and has weight, especially when cap in on the handle.
I am so excited! My first drop!

I have one of these pens in my collection, from a previous drop. I like its ink capacity, finding the Akashiya brush pen refill, Platinum and Aurora cartridges fit these pens nicely. With larger, tapered international long cartridges (refilled with my favorite ink) these discontinued Queen FPs have a decent ink capacity. I wish there were more nib choices, but I have not attempted to change my nib. Tends to write a little wet, but flows nice with J. Herbin, Parker Quink, Pelikan, Sheaffer, and Lamy inks. The red (which is my FP's color) is already sold out, otherwise I might be tempted to grab another.

Regarding the inks that you mentioned in your post, would these also be cartridges? I tend to write with blue ink only and I want to be prepared to write with my pen as soon as I receive it. Thanks for any information that you can provide.

Sorry for the delay in response, I just saw this. I have had better luck with cartridges in these pens than I have with a couple of generic converters. With a dab of silicone grease around the nipple, the Waterman converter leaks very slightly and is so far the best of the bunch. I mostly use Lamy international long cartridges trimmed slightly. I have to use a dental pick to pull the empty Lamy cartridge out, but the ink capacity is great. Lately, I have been leaving the stuck-in-place Lamy cartridge and refilling the pen with an eyedropper. Holding the pen upright while I screw the pen back together minimizes spills.
I tried the Monteverde converter and it seems to be too long or something. I might be missing something, however, because there seems to be something blocking the majority of the barrel. It moves around a little bit, but I can't get it out even after trying tweezers and even a knife. I fear it might be the black ink cartridge everyone else is talking about, because I didn't get one of those in the package. Does anyone have any idea?
Fsaresh
Hi @Fsaresh, that does indeed sound like it might be the cartridge stuck in the back. You can try tapping the open end of the barrel firmly on a flat table surface, or even harder on a mouse pad or notebook etc. That usually gets the little bugger out.

Has the cartridge and converter controversy been solved with these pens? I don't want another pen in my collection that takes either proprietary cartridges or converter. If there is a hack for this pen, allowing it to use long Parker Quink cartridges (I love their ink capacity) that would be worth noting.
Has anyone actually figured out a converter that works with this pen? I can get cartridges to easily fit, but any converter I try doesn't work sadly.
CORRECTION: I must have been tired, as most of the cartridges I've tried without modification don't work.

Can anyone confirm this converter works with this pen?
Well, the parker converters that I tried for those didn't work. It seems to need a converter that isn't standard....
Godin
Parker is not a standard converter/cartridge brand; it is proprietary and only works in Parker pens.
what brand converter works with this? the store i went to was skeptical about any of them fitting.
So, I finally got another converter for this Regal Queen. although i loathe the black that comes with it (but I usually hate blacks in the first place, so there's that), I had fun with the pen for general writing throughout the day.
However, I've found something out about the pen; unless I'm doing this completely wrong, it seems as though the converter (the monteverde clear one) seems to not fit. Has someone been able to get a converter on their pen?
Godin
I found the little black ink cartridge that came with the pen did not fit. But the long Parker Quink ones do fit the top and fit in the barrel! Very handy!
lillythepink57
Parker, huh. I'll try one of those
So I got my pen today. I like it; the only issue I've found so far is that the cap can only be placed on one way, so twisting it while it's on the pen can't be a thing. This also makes it to where if the grip section and the nib is in the cap, you have to pry it out, as screwing it to the body to pull it out if not possible.
Also, the cap is mighty tight. It definitely won't dry out however :D
Was the pen supposed to come with an ink converter?
sllasky
No, did it actually come with one?
Godin
No, I just wanted to make sure before I ordered one. The picture on the drop website had an ink converter, so I was double-checking.

I love the James Joyce Red pen, but sadly it is sold out. Do you think there is a possibility to order one or do I have to wait for the next drop?
How do you guys think the purple will look like at university for a male in his late twenties? Classy look or feminine? The red looks good too! haha
Can someone suggest a nice entry-level modern looking brand/range of fountain pens? Thanks.
I've been thinking of trying out a fountain and this is cheap enough to make me consider..

I think I'm going to skip the White Tiger and Regal pens. I am interested in a cool looking Kaweco stonewashed Sport now. Thank you for your input! Happy holidays!
Testbrah
No problem, glad I could help, I just got a Kaweco (not the stone washed) just be aware of the size, as it was much shorter than I expected it to be. Happy Holidays :)
This pen include ink?
The nib looks like the one on the Jinhao X450. The only difference is the Regal logo.
Really disappointed with mine. The gold plating on the nib was only plated properly on the left half of the nib and the nib itself is offset quite a bit.
Some.Random.Guy
I'm with you on that, mine leaks or doesn't write at all. The nib does not fit over the feed very well so I keep trying to get them lined up but it seems to be a constant struggle. Edit: I just gave up and sent it back, cost me almost half the price of the pen to send it back! I sent the manufacture an email but never got anything back so I guess no warranty!
