Product Description
Just like the bird it’s named for, the Hummingbird from Rike Knife is small, agile, and beautiful. This drop highlights three brand-new colors that you won’t find anywhere else but on Massdrop Read More
Posted this in the OG hummingbird thread, but I'll throw it here too:
Wasn't feeling the kydex holder with such a beautiful knife, so tried my hand at making something a little nicer!

Natural tan leather, oiled with neatsfoot, stainless hardware, and poly thread.
No worries, tbh I considered it but I think that would've added too much bulk. I didn't want any hardware inside of the horizontal strap to rub against the knife during sheaths, so that would've been another layer on the backside to hide the hardware.
But now that you mention it, I gave it a go of unsheathing it without undoing the strap and while awkward, it's doable. It's relatively thin leather at about an ounce or two so it's pliable but tough enough.
BknguyenYeah, having to line it to protect from hardware would definitely add bulk, that's a good point.
Anyway, like I said, just kinda spitballing, the original product looks great just as is. Well done 👍
I don’t know much about knives.... But this looks like it’s a level 100 legendary item that someone spent 6 months of their life grinding the same dungeon for over and over again. It forsure has maximum level bleed and likely 10% life leech. In the hands of a elven rogue.... game over.
Could we please have less knives, and more actually useful real ultralite hiking & camping gear? What has happened to Drop? Knife after knife after knife after knife after knife - one is quite enough thanks, and they don't even ship internationally. Can we please return to gear that is actually relevant to ultralite? Zpacks, HMG, MLD, Evernew, ... Packs, stoves, quilts, headlamps, parkas, ...
rmeurantDrop doesnt manufacture. They just run ads/orders for production from other companies. That would probably mean not many hike/camp item companies are offering to be run by drop. Kickstarter is similar but longer wait times. Try looking there.
I received the Hummingbird I ordered for my wife the other day. All in all I am VERY satisfied with the quality of the knife. There are a couple spots where the anodizing went a little further than it should have, but other than that, it's fantastic! I really wasn't expecting very good flipping action out of such a tiny knife, but it's great.
$80 for an dual anodized, titanium scaled knife with a Damasteel blade of this build quality is incredible. It even has a steel lockbar insert! The price outside of Massdrop for a standard, single color Hummingbird is $135. This was a phenomenal value!
1.5"? Seriously? I recently picked up a 2" bladed knife, nice titanium frame/scales, and it's about the bottom limit of what I consider useful:

Any smaller and it starts to feel almost doll-house size. The artistry in this Rike knife is wonderful and the price is very attractive. if only it had a 2" blade. Reluctantly passing...
VahkiI believe that's a Samior. The VG-10 damascus version has a model number of DT02, unsure if this version shares it. Been seeing the brand for half a year or so, mostly for miniature knives like that one.
