What about into a Zoom H4N, H5 or Tascam DR-40?

jbrwDoes not work with my Zoom H5 and I would the assume the H4N if it uses the same TRS jack which is standard for this kind of audio equipment. The Rhode smarLav+ uses a TRRS specifically to be compatible with smart phone headphone jacks. You will need a TRS to TRRS splitter.
