I can't use anything ulltrasonic when filling it with city water. All the dissolved junk turns into a white dust. They actually make the situation I bought it for worse.

Is there a need to swap out filters for these, and will they work in Australia?

andrew.bI bought one last year on Amazon. Mine is still going strong like JBenPiel stated too. There are no filters, I cleaned it with white Vinegar once every 7 - 10 days. I have 1 in the bedroom and 1 in the family room. Regarding the bright LED, it is nothing compared to the other humidifiers I purchased, just 1 light and all I did was turn the unit 90 degrees and the LED faces away from the bed...problem solved.
