Regarding the comment: "Rotring is not making the original series of pens and pencils (unfortunately and to my deepest regret). But these are in production and are still made in Japan. So there is no shortage of Rapid Pro, new 800+, 800, 600, 500 and 300 rOtrings." by Dmitry V...

I wish companies would offer the option of buying the genuine article by the genuine crew who've made it for decades at a price necessary to charge for the genuine, by the genuine. They could still offer the affordable version at the made in Japan price...
It's the same with my favorite brand of bath soap. They reshape the bar of soap every few years to reduce its net weight so they can keep the price competitive. You've sold me on the product; keep the same shape and just charge me more. Stop insulting my intelligence by trying to trick me. But I digress.

GrangerKnivesWell, I think that original rOtring was sold at least twice since their "golden age" finished. And there no one left from original team. Can understand their problems, as people are not using drawing board any longer, so demand for such drawing tools are enormously lower. (but I'll be happy to get their original fountain pen (not Newton) or some discontinued pencils for a reasonable price, and not over $100. And not $300-500 :( )
