Shipment recieved. Was there supposed to be one or two pencils in the order? I thought it was for two. I got one, which is very nice. It's the one I wanted, but thought it was for two.
They finally shipped the package...
If I don't hear anything beyond a courtesy email in a day or two, I will contact my credit card reps and file a stop payment. After that depending on what transpires, I may drop this site and it's email offerings. It is the small things that matter, and up til now dealings were fast and easy.

Thank you Liz. I'm sure this is a rare occurance with Massdrop, and apologise for my terse response. I do wish in, the future, that status updates are a bit more informative, but understand that between supplier and shipping there are some gray areas that can't really be answered.

No apologies necessary, and I certainly understand the frustration. We appreciate the honest feedback, as this flags the issue to us and helps us focus on improving our processes. :)
Ok. First time ordering on this site. What's going on?! When is the shipping date? Some info please.
NRay
This likely will be the LAST time I order from this site. My first order I sent back because what I received in the mail didn't match the color of what I ordered. And now my second order is delayed over a week without the courtesy of an update or an apology.

We received these at our warehouse today, and are working on getting the orders shipped out asap. If you haven't already, you should receive an email notification very soon. Thanks for your patience!
estimated ship date was a week ago, what's going on?

Regarding the comments about it being cheaper on Amazon, the price is always fluctuating. It was $23.90 with $8.99 shipping to international destinations 2 days ago, now it's $33+$8.99. So if you're an international buyer like me, please check the international shipping option out. This is currently the better deal for me at $23.99+$5.50 (at the best price, it was $23.90 +$8 on Amazon).

I checked it on the day of it, and it was 30 bucks, checked it yesterday and it was 40
happens all the time for these pencils
I got a silver one last time. It's a tad on the heavy side, but it is a fine tool and I am happy with it. I'm guessing it'll be twenty years before it wears out. I recommend the black version because it looks more 'finished.'
Yea the rapid pro is $24.99 on Amazon with two day shipping.. I don't really get why anyone would think this is a great deal?

Amazon prices vary, sometimes dramatically. Also, it depends on which lead size and finish you want. Even if you are lucky enough to catch a lower price on Amazon, and you have Prime, it will end up within a couple of bucks of Massdrop. For the two pencils I need, even with free shipping, the final cost is lower through Massdrop than on Amazon (by about $6). It is best practice, when buying anything, to check prices elsewhere first, but it also pays to understand that Amazon pricing isn't static. I *could* constantly monitor Amazon and maybe save a couple of bucks, eventually. It's just not worth my time.
The black rapid pro 2mm one is only $23.99 on Amazon with prime shipping right now. Can get it within two days.
To anyone looking for a review: I have two of these, one in 0.5 mm and the other in 0.7 mm. A little bit on the heavy side, compared to other pencils you might have used in the past, but since it's nose-heavy you will get used to the weight soon and then there's no going back. Knurling is adequate. The build quality is 8.5/10. Be sure to use high quality leads. I use Pentel Ain Stein 2B leads and have zero breakage issues.

Question. Why does shipping to Canada double if I want to get two pencils? Surely it doesn't cost $16.50 to ship three pencils. Would it be possible to ship multiple pencils for less? I realize the shipping is calculated by a certain formula, I just don't agree with the multiplication.
ZALHERA
Hey there @ZALHERAThanks for flagging and bringing this to our attention. There was a system calculation error with this drop, all is fixed now. Apologies for the confusion and we appreciate your feedback on how we can improve.

It's one of the few pencils out there with a sliding sleeve. Here is some more info: http://bleistift.memm.de/2015/10/rotring-rapid-pro-0-5/
Regarding the comment: "Rotring is not making the original series of pens and pencils (unfortunately and to my deepest regret). But these are in production and are still made in Japan. So there is no shortage of Rapid Pro, new 800+, 800, 600, 500 and 300 rOtrings." by Dmitry V...
I hate when a company begins to coast on their reputation. I wish companies would offer the option of buying the genuine article by the genuine crew who've made it for decades at a price necessary to charge for the genuine, by the genuine. They could still offer the affordable version at the made in Japan price...
It's the same with my favorite brand of bath soap. They reshape the bar of soap every few years to reduce its net weight so they can keep the price competitive. You've sold me on the product; keep the same shape and just charge me more. Stop insulting my intelligence by trying to trick me. But I digress.
GrangerKnives
Well, I think that original rOtring was sold at least twice since their "golden age" finished. And there no one left from original team. Can understand their problems, as people are not using drawing board any longer, so demand for such drawing tools are enormously lower. (but I'll be happy to get their original fountain pen (not Newton) or some discontinued pencils for a reasonable price, and not over $100. And not $300-500 :( )
Let's get the pens back on a mass drop, come one people, they don't make these anymore, they are the best, you simply can't get them anymore!

How long till they are shipped out?
How does this compare to Rotring 800?
26.99+2.19 shipping isnt bad
I can get this for $27 on amazon?
Geogga
yeah but who uses .7
NorrisB
the same number of people who use 0.5 or 0.9?
Pencil is great...good luck though after lead runs out. I was so impressed I decided to order multiple packs of lead for my 0.7mm. Rotring customer service recommended I get 0.7 HB for general writing but writing with this is definitely not the same as the original lead it came with.
So basically this pencil is only good until its lead runs out.

Yes. 2mm lead holders combine the mechanical pencil element with a normal pencils durability. Go for 2mmimo
I personally love Pilot's ENO neox lead, and I use both the 2B and HB. (Picture here:

) The 2B is obviously softer, but both are incredibly smooth, dark, and fine.

Has anyone's eraser cap come loose? After just a day of use, the cap is very loose and prone to falling off. Would Massdrop support be able to help me out with this? Or do I contact Rotring?
I have this issue as well, and it's quite frustrating. My cap doesn't stay in place at all, as soon as I turn the pencil upside down it'll slide right off. I feel like rotring mechanical pencils don't hold up very well, I've bought the 600 in another drop a while ago and it snapped on the inside just from a drop from the table.
edit: it seems that to fix this problem, all you have to do is take pliers or tweezers or anything really to deform the cap a little, and it'll stay on tighter than ever.
