Product Description
With it’s long, slender blade and handle, the Rough Rider Thin Man is aptly named. This svelte construction is also what makes it such a joy to carry as it won’t take up too much space in your pocket and it’s great for getting into tight areas Read More

I HAVE found that my Worksharp (or any judiciously-applied belt sander) can put an edge on anything. Even Havarti-grade mystery steel. The only question is how long it'll stay sharp... And how many times you can do it before you don't have any knife left!

DaedIt has been my experience that mystery steels that can be sharpened to a razor edge will keep that edge indefinitely. At least, until you start trying to cut something. When a knife is advertised with stainless or surgical steel, I don't even look at other specs or the price, if I have to search for that. If this knife is 440A with a good heat treatment, then I would certainly considered it a good deal. I have several Chinese equivalents, 7Cr17, that do get sharp and keep the edge like Google protects your confidential information. I looked it over and I guess I thought it was all right . All right in a sort of a limited way for a cheap knife.

Just got mine and all I can say is nothing good in fact this is the biggest POS EVER. Nothing about this thing is even satisfactory not the materials used or the ergos or action. It's stiff as crap and impossible to open with one hand. The thumb disk is small and is even with the scales and leaves no room to get your thumb under it. As for looks , well it looks like an over built toenail clipper and when I went to adjust the pivot screw I noticed that it was stripped from the factory. This knife is sooo bad that Massdrop didn't put there name on it so what's that tell you. I feel that even for $10 bucks I got ripped off and that's no lie! Knives this bad being sold on for any money can only bring down the integrity of Massdrop. The ONLY positive thing I can say is Thanks for not Billboarding the blade Massdrop and I honestly mean that.

Looks like one of these, re-branded by the OEM after a licensing agreement expired:

Video says 440A for the blade, and 420J2 liners with aluminum scales...

What's up with this Drop? Did it go belly up or is my knife on the way?? I've had no emails either way and it kind of makes me salty for ordering anything else from MD. I admit this is only my second time ordering from MD but my first time went smooth and there were some emails involved but nothing on this one. Glad it was only $10 bucks or I would out of my freaking mind. Signed, A Massdrop noob

BassturdI'm on the same boat haven't heard anything from them about it but I heard something about another item I ordered a week after and it's already shipping
I really think a lot of these knives from rough Rider and other companies like it are severely underrated simply because people look at the price and think it's going to be absolute crap and unreliable. I have a few rough Rider and timber rattler knives and they seem extremely good quality for the price they've held an Edge well and I've had no issue.... When I saw it was rough Rider I was hoping it would be a similar price and I was not disappointed can't wait to get it
Well if I am disappointed then I will contact massdrop and I will get my money back because if the night they send me isn't anywhere near worth what I paid for it I will get a refund

Lastgunslinger3759Consumer studies show that people tend not to return things that cost under $19.95 so some companies put products out for that price or cheaper knowing that it most likely will not get returned to them. I hope this is not the case with Drop and I'm glad that you will return it if deemed necessary, After all we don't want to reward bad business practices. I hope you do enjoy it though

Picked this up a few months ago in a mint green with titanium coated blade and clip from Massdrop. For the low cost, I didn't expect much, but it has been a very handy knife, seeing almost daily use. Initially, it was very stiff, almost not possible to open one handed, but over the course of 3 weeks it got smoother. I honestly can't say enough good things about this inexpensive lil folder. My single complaint is that I much prefer a tip down carry.
