These are the same as the Superlux HD681 or HD668 ($40 on eBay) but with huge awesome earpads which are totally necessary and make all the difference.
This Samson phone with the pictured huge velour pads looks extremely worth it. It's a great configuration for $50 that's offered here. Definitely get it and you can even take it a step further and also get the HD681 (put the Samson pads onto it) for a slightly different and open sound, and all in all you end up having two amazing headphones.
The amazing superlux headphone is rebranded or modded by a couple companies. Check out the Presonus HD7 for another example, but without any fantastic earpads.
These are incredible headphones. The frequency response fits the equal-loudness contour so they sound balanced, albeit a little bit bright but incredibly detailed. You can compare them to $100 or $200 cans. Bass extension is very deep but very tight and not bloated or too loud. No overpowering low-mids or high-bass. They're slightly smiley-face curved which personally I like, but in no way unrealistic sounding. Very natural. They are definitely studio monitor due to the smooth FR.
Because the earpads are the weak points of the original Superlux headphone (not even worth using unless you replace them), what users have done is get the Superlux (NOT the EVO versions) for $40 on eBay and also get the well-recommended Shure HPAEC840 ear pads ($20). These are the ear pads for the Shure SRH 840 which are often recommended to be used on various different headphones to improve the sound and comfort. Still, some people have to accurately cut and add padding themselves behind the Shure earpads for good comfort.
This Samson phone already has huge velour earpads that even further will increase SQ and already provide the best comfort. All the hassle is done and if I hadn't spent forever making my own pair already, I would have bought these and had something better.
I'd like to point out that both of those products you mentioned are available on amazon WITH prime for less. 12.99 for the earpads and 30.89 for the hd681.
Do you know if there is a closed version of the superlux that is as cheap as the hd681?
how bright ? do they get harsh/fatiguing with electronical music and or rock ?( i am a bit treble sensitive)
If you're extremely sensitive to treble, you should probably look elsewhere. But, velour dulls treble a bit. I bet it's corrected on the Samson. I would get it but I already have the 681. Despite being high treble, they are not fatiguing because it is well balanced treble and not peaky. That's considering the original Superlux. If you can raise treble without making it peaky, it becomes increased clarity instead of annoying sibilance and this is exactly what these guys have done.
