I find that it writes comparably to the Lamy Safari/Al-Star (M nib) and has the benefit of reduced ink loss through evaporation due to a better cap (iD at least). Uses standard international cartridges or converters vs. proprietary. May be more difficult to clean due to the larger feed. As a side benefit I have not seen any clones yet (see Jinhao 599, Hero Summer Colors, etc. with Lamy) so you are more likely to be getting the real deal.
